need some help with cab mount bushings
I just got a package from Summit which contained all new polyurethane bushings for my truck. I've got ALL of them on except the cab mount bushings which I am having a hard time installing because of the one rear passenger side cab mount. The bolt is rusted on there really bad, and I've been soaking it in Release-All for a week. I've even had the torches on there and got the bolt red hot and it still won't come out. The problem is that someone has already tried to remove it so the head of the bolt is kind of rounded off and I was wondering how I can go about removing the bolt. If anyone has any suggestions it'd be appreciated.

Like I said I've already tried the torches and a johnson bar, no luck. My friend said they make something called a stud puller that might get it off, otherwise I'm relying on the guys and girls to help me out.

Thanks in advance

If the head is rounded off, you may be able to hammer a smaller socket over the head to remove it. The socket may be a loss, but if it's on there good enough, you should be able to break it loose. A long enough cheater bar should also do the trick. good luck!

Re: need some help with cab mount bushings
I will give that a try, but I'm not too sure if it'll work. The bolt is supposed to be 15mm, and I've already got a 9/16" on there pretty tight without any luck.

I've been working on this truck of nine days and all I wanted to do was a 4/6 drop, haha. Turned out I got all new fuel lines, brake lines, bushings, fenders, and I doubt it'll end here.

Well I'll keep trying to get this off.

Try heating the cab up around the threads of the bolt and then spray ice water on the bolt only, while someone else yanks on it with a breaker bar. That'll get the bolt to shrink rapidly while the threads will remain hot.I've done it several times and it works like a charm. If you're having trouble with the head being ronded off, grind the head down enough to slip another nut over it and weld that nut to the existing head of the bolt.

Re: need some help with cab mount bushings
what year of truck you workin on? it shouldnt be in there so tight. my guess is that you'll break it off before you get it out. i know on the 73-87's they used lok-tite on the bolts, i say, try welding another nut onto your bolt, or tacking a socket onto the bolt, heating it, long cheater bar, or high power impact. if it went in there, it had to come out. if you get it out in tact, next time put them in with an impact, dont tighten with a breaker bar. and probably order some new bolts... haha
