Re: where can i get a different gauge cluster for a 94?
You may want to just add a tach and speedometer to the A pillar. Custom gauge pods for there are cheap an dthe wiring should be pretty easy. Companies make double and triple pods so you can add those two and a tranny temp or air/fuel ratio, whatever you want or need. Benefits to doing it this way is you can remove the gauges if wanted.

Re: 1995 to 1998/99/00 Instrument Cluster Information...
 I *UCKED UP!
went to the junkyard the other day in search of the click in light bulb holders for behind the gauges (97 obs). found an escalade with the 120 mph speedo. didn't realize i could swap it in an judt smashed it open with bar to get the bulb holders.
i did swap the needles however.
what do you do about the difference in odometers on the swap?

Wow, you shmashed it up. You are retarded. I think you may have to go to the dealership to get the milage changed or get a new sticker for your door jam that says you have a new milage than actual.

I believe he meant that he smashed the cluster on the Escalade in the junkyard, not his personal one, in order to get to the part he was looking for

Here's mine with White LED's installed and the NuImage overlay. The LED's made it glow Blue. Got mine off EBay for about $40.

Re: 1995 to 1998/99/00 Instrument Cluster Information...
I have a complete gauge package, with Tachometer from a 95 Chevy truck that I purchased for my 93 truck. I thought it would be a staight bolt in. Since its not, I would like to trade for a 93/94 model with Tach or sell it.
I thought I would offer it to you guys 1st, before I list it on ebay.
If you are interested, email me at bilnan22@aol.com
Thanks,
Bill

Re: 1995 to 1998/99/00 Instrument Cluster Information...
Correct me if Im wrong..1995 was the first year of the new style dash(rounded), but it was also the last year for the TBI motors(Non Vortec). I have a 94Chevy P/U (square dash) and I also redline at 4,000 RPM. Max 5,000 RPM. Vortec motors go up to 6,000 probably cuz of the Vortec heads....better flow.

Re: 1995 to 1998/99/00 Instrument Cluster Information...
I will add a little info to this thread from my experience with clusters from my trucks.
First, the mileage can easily be turned back with a small screwdriver, 1 number at at time on the reel.
The issue of nonworking trip odo is usually the coupler between the odo and trip odo, the coupler can be glued back together easily.
I have a 95 tahoe with 350 tbi and swapped a cluster from a 96 truck 4.3 into it, everything worked except the tach read wrong. I assumed it was the difference between 6 and 8 cyl tach driver resistor boards. I did not modify it, but am pretty sure it would work. There is a thread on thirdgen.org dealing with repairing tach driver boards that is very informative. I had to do this for my 91 camaro. The resistor circuits look identical between the camaro and truck, but I did not test them. It basicly involves cutting 2 leads on the resistor circuit and soldering a pot or resistor across them. I first soldered a pot in and hooked up to a scanner to set it to the correct reading, then inhooked the pot and measured its resistance. Then solder resistors of the correct amount in its place. Y ou can also leave the pot installed and just put it behind the cluster. I am sure this would work with a little experimentation.
Also, the 95 and 96 cluster have different part numbers, but most of the components are the same and both of mine had a 95 manufacture date.
I will locate and post a link to the thirdgen tach info thread when I get a chance.

Re: 1995 to 1998/99/00 Instrument Cluster Information...
If you have a 88-90 with moonie gauges check the tech articles, you can upgrade to 92-94 style with tach fairly easily. 91 is the only special year, they offered the new style tach cluster but it used the old plugs style and is a no wiring swap for 88-91trucks with moonies.
I originally installed the 85MPH gauges in my 88 from a 94, then installed 454SS 110 MPH guages from a 93. If you want a speedo higher than 85MPH in your 88-94 install gauges from a 454SS. On the 454SS cluster the tach goes to 6k and speedometer to 110MPH, and they have an additional dummy light that says "traction active" (although this isn't wired in standard trucks).
The only thing else I can say about the SS cluster is good luck finding them. The Tach style ran 91-93 (91 being the old style plug). Only 16k trucks produced and 91-93 was only about 3k of that. I found my set (brand new!) from a 93 for $299 which was a steal IMO.
Another cluster to add to the list is 95 Chevy Diesel cluster. It has the 5k tach, 100mph speedo and a host of other dummy lights including "service throttle soon" and "water in fuel". 95 is also the only year of the diesels that says "glow plugs" instead of the 96+ "wait to start".

What years does the GMC Yukon Denali have the 120MPH Cluster? Will a 1997 Yukon have a 120MPH Cluster?

you have to move 3 wires and add the tach wire to put in a 91 cluster in a 88-90 truck
the diesel cluster tach won't work on a gasser, the diesel tach gets its signal from the alternator, a gasser does not have this signal
