DJ thanks for your honesty (I'm standing on a bucket with a rope around my neck now) LOL
The problem with the gauges going across like in some of the early pics is it messes with my center counsel design. I know how I want it to look in my head just gotta get it done . After the pod gets molded in it will look a lot diffrent. Ill post some pics when that happens.

Take care Dave

The dash is lookin great, i cant wait to see it done, i'm curious as to how much room the 4 buckets will leave in the back for legroom and such, i may just have to go that route with mine.

Re: Glass interior started
HONDA 400

Here is how I did the mirror ,one thing that you can do diffrent is to let the resin kick to the point that it wount move or run on the part then apply a freshly mixed coat. Doing that you can apply enough resin to bury the weave in 1 day as opposed to 3. If you sand through the resin into the weave its just like a candy paintjob, RUINED!

Started with a mirror shell off an 88 chev pu.Sanded the shell with 400 to clean up the surface.
Cut a piece of cf cloth extra large to be sure it would extend past all ehe edges.

"Sprayed a coat of 3m adheisive on the shell and let it tack up .Heres where I learned my first lesson. started to lay the cloth down and you guessed it ,it bunched up and bridged all over the place. After ripping the cloth off I decided to spray the glue wet so I would have at least a short window to slide the weave. That worked fine with the exception of the pattern being a little crooked.

Once the cloth was stuck down I let the glue dry for a few hrs and went on to resin. I used epoxy and worked the resin in with a brush.

After about 24 hrs I lightly sanded the resin wit 120 on a da then applied another coat of resin. 24 hrs sanded again with 120 then applied another coat.

I sanded it totally flat the third time ,cleaned it then shot 3 coats of urethane clear. Sanded next day with 500 then 3 more coats of clear. Sanded and buffed 2 days later. "
NOTE shoot a light coat of black paint on the part you intend to overlay incase the weave spreads a little. Also great info on this on ,fiberglast.com

(Shakey) re the buckets in the back my guess is no one will ever sit in them purley for looks and also to take up some room back there so I dont have to put 20 or 30 subs in the back. LOL When I get em I'll post a pic with them in .
I think I'm goin with 4 ARIZEN buckets .

Re: Glass interior started
A few updated pics.

Fleeced the cluster in , came out pretty good. Next, need to grind the surface and blend it into the rest of the dash with glass. Then comes duraglass and bondo to finish.

Re: Glass interior started
looks good man!. are you going to sand it so the rings show when painted, or are you going to fill around them so they flow right into the dash?

i've been looking at different pics to get ideas for mine, and i think i'm going to try and make little "hoods" over all the guages... hard to explain, but they'll be recessed like an old muscle car, a few inches deep into the dash.

i still want to reuse the stock dash and just do the glass work on the drivers side, and smooth out the passenger side, keeping the glove box

keep up the good work!

Re: Glass interior started
DJ, not quite sure I understand what you mean about the rings showing, but I plan on filling and blending everything in for a smooth look. I dont like the area around the tach, I made the ring about 1/4" too big (too bad so sad) its stayin.
I like your idea about the little shades over each gauge ,that will look great.

I'll keep posting progress pics, gotta get to work summer's comming!

thanks again for all the kind words

Dave

Re: Glass interior started
Went a few steps forward , ordered my seats on monday (see pic)
2tone black, fabric/alcantara. Layed more glass on the top of the dash ,now its a little too stiff , fit is a little off now ,gotta tweak it before I start laying duraglass on it.

Made the mounts for my fuel cell . You would think on such a big truck there would be room for a giant tank . Best I could do was an rci 15 gal,in the stock location .It sits at least 2" above the frame rail now. Ill post picks when its installed, its in the booth now getting a coat of epoxy.

Take care

Dave

Re: Glass interior started
Weekend update. About 1/2 way done molding the cluster in and also cut the hole for my starter button.

Also including a pic of my fuel cell all mounted in the frame. Not an interior subject but I'm sure enough of you guys are lowering trucks and will be interested.

A NOTE to SHAKEY. Dont know what I was thinkin (4 buckets?????) We had an 04 ford cc Harley ed. in the shop and a few of my guys thought it would be neat in my truck. Plan now is a glass tonneu cover with spkrs ,subs, and amps flowing into the center console.Should be fun to build.
