A NOTE to SHAKEY. Dont know what I was thinkin (4 buckets?????) We had an 04 ford cc Harley ed. in the shop and a few of my guys thought it would be neat in my truck. Plan now is a glass tonneu cover with spkrs ,subs, and amps flowing into the center console.Should be fun to build.

Re: Glass interior started
Fuel cell is made by RCI. 15 gal capacity ,bought through summit racing for $230. I have a 45 degree filler neck for it that will adapt it to use the stock fuel door. I fabbed up the brackets so the tank sits 2" above the lower frame rail. Tank dimentions are 30"long x 12" wide x 9" tall.

Take care Dave

Re: Glass interior started
any updates? I may have to use what you've done as a starting point on how I want to do mine. I've got a full set of Autometer Phantoms going in my '89. I've been trying to get an idea of how I wanted to do it, I hate the cut a big hole and stick a gauge in look. you even have the push button start idea I had floating around in my head. Very nice work!

Re: Glass interior started
Looking good so far...you mentioned something about your bed, and i know this is the interior forum, but are you making the fiberglass tonnaeu cover for the bed, or are you going to be buying it? My buddy and i are thinking about building one, and we were looking for suggestions for the inner support.I want it to be strong, (not sagging. i'm building a plywood platform, then thinking of doing a coupld of differant things for the inner support, but can't really figure out how we want to do it yet. The only reason we were thinking about building one, is that we don't really like the way any of the pre-made tonnaeu's look, and we can design the ones we like ourselves, just looking for suggestions of course.

Re: Glass interior started
Well lets see ,got a lot of my parts .Correct seats showed up,billet window switches, armrests and sound system.Needed the speakers to start building doorpanels ,rear panels and tonneau.

TO LOKI. tonneau I'm making is going behind the seats(like the old T BIRDS and the newer corvettes have).

Dash is comming along nicely,a little more fine tuning and it will be ready for carbon fiber.

Also pulled the old motor over the weekend so I can start getting the frame and firewall ready for paint.

Take care

Dave

Wow, just found this thread, VERY impressive work! Are you still planning on the "glossy" carbon fiber to finish it? Please keep posting pics of that thing, looks like a really cool project.

Re: Glass interior started
Thanks for all the encouraging words. As far as the cf on the dash and other fg panels ,yes they will be as glossy as i can get them . I plan on painting most of the fg a medium to dark silver with the cf on selected areas like the gauge cluster, the defroster and ac tubes around the spkrs ect...

To cuztom90 Im like most guys on this site only backwards ,where most guys have a $35,000 dollor truck and put 5 into it I started with a 5000 dollor truck and put 35into it.Stupid but someones gotta do it.LOL The banks almost broke so this thing needs to get finished.

One place it looks like I might have to cut corners is in the engine comp. I planned to cf the inner fender wells and make flat trim panels out of cf to hide the insides of the fenders but there is a worldwide shortage of cf .I have enough on hand to do the interior (providing i dont screw any up) but I have 6 yrds on order that might not show up for a couple months.

I have been practicing doing "fake" painted on cf that looks pretty good so I might have to go that route.

Take care I'll keep you posted of my progress

Fabric approx $60 for 1 yrd
epoxy resin $120 gal
misch sand paper $15
urethane clear $30
various polishing compounds pads ect...$40

I have been experimenting with vac bagging overlays and plan on attempting it on the cf on the door panels .That should cut down on the mtl cost and reduce sanding .

this is the thread...it will be page 2 for me, but may start on 4 for others. HERE's My thread in the Audio Forum!! I just got done trimming the pod mold here at work and the test fit went great. When i get home i'm building the framing for it and glassing the pod mold to the back of the door panel.

I'll be tearing the driver's side door off too and starting that as well. i already have the mold, just need to get cut the other door up and lay it down.

But i don't want to hi-jack your thread, so i'll quit talking about my crap.
