Re: 88-94 to 95-98 All Swap Info Compile
I am going to put the plastic shroud around mine soon. It looks as if it will go together nicely other than the old column sticks out further than the new on and I will have an inch gap. I think I can get rubber to fill that gap and it will look good since my interior is black.

Re: 88-94 to 95-98 All Swap Info Compile
If anybody wants pictures of how I molded my 90 ac controls into the bezel just send me a message.
Oh, and FYI if anybody thinks one screw at the top of the dash to hold it in is a good idea, it is not. My dash cracked at the top vent due to hard shifting.

Re: 88-94 to 95-98 All Swap Info Compile
Question for you guys. I have a 91 and have done the drac converstion to a 94 cluster. If I understand this thread I just get the dash and cluster and bolt it up and plug it in to my exhisting cluster plug? Also, since the 99 and 00 escalade, denali, and tahoe/burb are the same body style and used the same dash I can use it too? I am askin because my neighbor has a body shop and whats left of a 99'escalade that has the door panels and dash.

Re: 88-94 to 95-98 All Swap Info Compile
8-12 is for the gear selection. 8 is for the illumination of the shift indicator. 9-12 are for the gears.

Re: 88-94 to 95-98 All Swap Info Compile
your going to want to take the complete dash, heating duct that connects to the dash (not the big box thats attacted to the heater assembly). gauges, headlight switch, ac controls, cd delete pocket, and thats about it.

Re: 88-94 to 95-98 All Swap Info Compile
Me, pretty sure most of us know that though. Mine is coming back out for a glassed screen, smoothed and painted, welding new column bracket on and the pass side bracket. Along with the new oh crap handle bracket. everything is wired from doors to a/c. Project you should slap some pics up of your interior. I am going for an all blacked out look with suede in the doors and such.

Re: 88-94 to 95-98 All Swap Info Compile
It'll be nice to see that once it's completed chevy.
I've searched the forum and read every post here in this thread, but I can't seem to find any specific info on connecting the passenger-side airbag. I have a '95 Z71 that ony came with the driver-side airbag (as was standard for the '95-'96 trucks). I'd like to upgrade to a '97-'98 dash specifically for the passenger-side airbag, but I have no idea if it will even hook up properly so it will work if I get into an accident. Does it hook up to the existing sensor for the driver-side airbag? What about the fuses? Do I just use the fuse box from the '97-'98 dash? Also, what's the best way to work on the airbags so I can avoid "an unwanted activation" while installing? Do I disconnect the bettery, or simply remove the fuse? I've seen both suggested here, that's why I'm asking. ![]() "This... is my BOOMSTICK!" 1995 Z71 ECSB 5.7L (crate)~4L60E~3:73~GVW 6200~HD towing package~NBS stock wheels~285 BFGs~TB crank 1"~3" dual exhaust~BCT7 scanner~Cobra 29LTD~almost debadged |

Re: 88-94 to 95-98 All Swap Info Compile
I have a complete gauge package, with Tachometer from a 95 Chevy truck that I purchased for my 93 truck. I thought it would be a staight bolt in. Since its not, I would like to trade for a 93/94 model with Tach or sell it.
I thought I would offer it to you guys 1st. If you are interested, email me at bilnan22@aol.com Thanks, Bill |

Eh... I think you have to post this in the "For Sale" section, plus have at least 50 posts in this forum to be able to post anythign for sale.
I could be wrong though, I'm still kinda new around here. ![]() ![]() "This... is my BOOMSTICK!" 1995 Z71 ECSB 5.7L (crate)~4L60E~3:73~GVW 6200~HD towing package~NBS stock wheels~285 BFGs~TB crank 1"~3" dual exhaust~BCT7 scanner~Cobra 29LTD~almost debadged |

Re: 88-94 to 95-98 All Swap Info Compile
I am about to do a swap. 98 into a 93. My question is where do you put the ECU in the new dash. The 98 is under the hood of coarse and the 93 in the dash. Is there room behind the air bag?

Re: 88-94 to 95-98 All Swap Info Compile
And I've got a question (or two) as well:
Will the steering wheel from a NBS truck fit on the steering column of an OBS truck? - OR - Will the steering column from a NBS truck fit in an OBS truck? I have a crappy steering wheel in my '95 Z71 that's falling apart and reeks of some kind of chemical. Since I hear that this is a slightly common problem for steering wheels in the OBS of '95 and up, I would like to upgrade to a steering wheel that doesn't have this problem. I owned a 2000 Silverado since it hit the dealership in 1999, and had no problems whatsoever with the steering wheel. So I'd like to take that steering wheel (or the whole column if I have to) and drop it in my Z71. Does anyone know if this is possible? I'm going to look at a steering column in an OBS tomorrow, so I'd like to know before hand. Thanks in advance! ![]() "This... is my BOOMSTICK!" 1995 Z71 ECSB 5.7L (crate)~4L60E~3:73~GVW 6200~HD towing package~NBS stock wheels~285 BFGs~TB crank 1"~3" dual exhaust~BCT7 scanner~Cobra 29LTD~almost debadged |
