Odometer and DIC sometimes does not show up

I just purchased a 2003 Silverado about a month ago, and I have had this happen twice now, where I start the truck and the odometer/DIC does not display. The next time I restart the truck, they have come back on as normal. I know that when it is not displayed, it is still functioning, cause I can cycle through the menus with the steering wheel controls and when the truck is restarted, the display shows where I cycled to.

Has anyone had this problem before or an idea what might be the problem? I bought this truck as a GM Certified Used vehicle. It has 37,000 miles on it, but has a 3 month/3,000 mile warranty on it from the dealership. I am thinking I will call them about this problem, but wanted to get some input here first.

I know that my truck (04 Silverado) with the steering wheels controls has a setting where you can make that screen blank by toggling through the functions. However, it always shows back up if you were to shut my truck off and turn it back on. Hope this helps.

I have not seen an option in the menus to blank the screen out......and when it is blanked out, I can only get it back up after a restart. I have no idea how it would get blanked out to begin with.

i had the same problem with my 00 chevy its the cluster going out i bought a new used one off ebay but you can send them off and get them repaired for around 150.00
