how smooth

Sanding some big interior pieces and I started with 80grit to get rid of most the texture then 120 then 220 I also have 400 and 800 if i need it? There are still a few random spots in small crevices and such that have some texture but I just can't get my hand right to sand it all out without making a mess. How smooth and how much of all this texture really need to be gone for a good body shop to paint this smooth? I mean its like almost complete smooth right now but I just wasn't sure if those few low spots with texture is gonna be hard to cover with some high build or something when they paint? thanks

Re: how smooth

paint will fill some crevices, as long as you paint, sand, paint, sand it will eventually level out, I can't imagine your dash being that rough, it must be pretty smooth by now.
Just paint a light thin coat, dry, sand, repeat till you're happy
then one more time for good measure.

thats how I would do it anyway...mind you i've never painted a dash, just cabinets for an expensive condo.
my point is I'm not an expert
