08 Silverado interior rattle

Last month I took the plunge and purchased a new 2008 Silverado LTZ. It has let me down in 2 areas so far. First of all I am getting terrible mileage, less mpg on the highway than it is rated for in the city. But the thing that is getting very annoying is when driving on anything other than a flat smooth road there is a very annoying rattle coming from the upper seatbelt mount (very close to my ear). I can make it stop by twisting my arm back grabbing onto and "torquing" the mount to stop it from rattling. At first I tried to ignore it but it is starting to drive me up the wall. I haven't talked to the dealer yet as I would like to hear from any other owners. Do you have this problem?

Welp according to alldata there isnt a TSB (yet) on any interior noises.

What's alldata? Sorry I'm not familiar with that one.
I traded off my 2001 Z71 with 280,000kms on it and the interior was tight - no squeaks or rattles. One of the reasons I sold my 96 Ford 4X4 was interior noises.

its a website that sells its info to technichans etc info about cars and trucks. they post tsb's recalls other useless info techs need to fix cars etc

when u say horrible gas milage what do you mean. and also u gotta realize your not driving a bmw or mercedes, its a full size truck theres going to be some noise

I'm getting about 16MPG. Read my other post, this is not my first Chev truck, it is my 4th actually. I had a 1995 Z71 with the 350 and got around 20 on the highway. The 01 I traded in had the 5.3L got around 22 on the highway and that would be driving 110km/hr.
My new truck also has the 5.3L. I have been keeping it near 100.
As for the rattles well same thing, my 2001 never made noises like that. The thing is that it is right next to me ear so it is very noticeable.If it was yours and you just put out well over 40K for a truck I'm sure you would expect quality as well.

Is his an extracab? Maybe they are the only ones with this problem.

I would like to hear from anyone else with this problem because I will be talking to the dealership about it the next time I go in for an oil change.

I've got the same rattle but on the passenger side. And I agree the only time you hear it is when the road is less than flat.

No way is there a 95 Z71 350 that got 20mpg hwy

These motors get better gas milage as they break in too. How are you calculating MPG?? how many miles are on it??

and about the rattle, I would have taken it in as soon as it was pin pointed...you know exactly where the noise is coming from...have them fix it.

Why would you say that? My buddy had a 1990 that got better than 20mpg. It wasn't a extracab though, just a reg cab longbox.

ive yet to see some one bring one in complaining about it and there are no pi's or bullitens out on it yet but i will let you know if i find something.

My 07 had a rattle the dealer wouldt do anything about it. The little surround dress up thingy around the door lock button (manual locks)would vibrate when the radio was on. I just ended up stuffing some paper behind it, no more rattle.

Also my truck gets 15.5 mpg, it was 17.5 before the bigger tires, I have 3.23 gears mix that with a 33" tire = Booooged down.

My 98 ecsb z-71 got 19 and I drive like I'm on a fire call all the time. I'll have to agree about the poor milage. A buddy of mine has an 08 style and he has 13 k on it. It has gotten terrible milage. avg of 13 on the highway. That SUCKSSS!!!!!
