Dash SWAP. 2000 in a 85
Ok so as the title suggest, i have begun a dash swap. this will take a month probably, but should turn out pretty neat. I got a 200 0 dash from the junkyard down the road, paid 140 for everything so far, and that includes all the dash, skeleton steering column, column mount and light switches.

OK so here is what i have to start with
To start, here is what a 2000 dash is supposed to look like, from my 2000.excuse the colors goin on

The skeleton for the dash.

Re: Dash SWAP. 2000 in a 85
a quick fitting revealed that the dash curves do not match, but that the width was almost dead on.

So i took an inch off the dash, and straightened out the curve.

Re: Dash SWAP. 2000 in a 85
This is the steering column mount. I bolted it to the frame i built in the truck.

The dash mounts to the steering column mount. here

and here

Welded in some tab for the top of the dash. the welds all got cleaned up yesterday no new pics though

This is where the passenger side mounts

The stock brackets bolt right into the mounts

and it is hung.

Here is what the drivers side mount looks like. bolted up

and the passengers, which has since been straigtened

WOW!!!

i have always thought seeing that interior in an 85 would be AMAZING, did not think it was possible....

how much work you putting into this, i mean is there alot of cutting to fit, or mostly just fab work for every thing to mount to?

reg cab it is gonna be close. but i have smaller buckets seats, so i am pushing them back. THere will be some glasswork where it meets the a pillars, but width wise was good. it is gonna be tight on the door panels also. thanks for the interest

Re: Dash SWAP. 2000 in a 85
the bag was blown, so i will probably leave it normal for now, but i hope to be able to put a tv there someday, if i ever get ahead. i have the beginning of the console, and i am gonna fab the back half from fiberglass hopefully. I got the top of the dash on today, and i was a little off with my cuts, but nothing to serious i will post some pictures tom. or tonight

Re: Dash SWAP. 2000 in a 85
oh some pictures also
the dash in.

U can see where i cut it a little bit too short.

It sticks up because i have not yet put in the clips, like in the stock dash

It has cancer spots, which is fine cuz i am going to sand it all down anyway
