New to Window Tint -
I'm thinking real hard about getting my windows tinted on the new car. I've never had aftermarket tint, because I had always thought that it would bubble and scratch over time. I'm sure technology has come a long way, but I'm not too sure about what I need to be looking for. All I'm wanting is a good 20% tint all around.
97 chevy C1500 350 2wd, lifted 6" front, 4" rear, 4.11's, 15 x 10 hurricanes with 32 x 11.50 BFG all terrain, 5-chamber flo-master dumped in front of the axle.

04 Yukon XL SLT, everything except 4x4 and DVD.

Re: New to Window Tint -
Once you tint you will never not tint a vehicle ever again. I had my Silverado done with 20% on fronts and factory on back, and a limo strip on the windshield bout 9 inches down. LOVED it till I got popped for it and in spite, I'm getting it redone darker.
BUT do your research on the tint places, look at reviews and call around and find the best one, its worth the effort. llumar tint is great if you can find a place that uses it.
Also ask the place what film they use then google that sh!t and check it out. Most places will have a lifetime warranty on the film from fading and bubbling. If a place tells you they have a year warranty they're pretty much taking a dump on your chest..you don't want that.
Hope that helped.

Re: New to Window Tint -
i just got mine done a week ago and let me tell once you go black you never go back( ur windows so to speak) i got 20 on the sides and 5 on the back. in pa you can go as dark as you want on the back.make sure its a good brand film. the stuff i got is lifetime warranty and one year from the company on workmanship. so far no problems with it. keeps the car really cooled off inside, i was surprised.

Go for it. I can't live without tint. Generally, whenever I buy a vehicle, I have the tint done within days of purchasing it.

I have 2% on everything except windshield and I hate driving in a car without tint. You'll NEVER go back.

just be careful when mudding with the windows down, dirt gets in the window slot and rips tiny holes in your tint

Don't do it yourself. its not as easy as it looks,it takes some skill to do it right and have it last.

If you've never done it, then your welcome to try, but it's not that much in the grand scheme of things to have it done by a professional.

3M and LLumar are good brands.

I have standard 2 ply died 3M FX 20% on my truck and the 3M colorstable 20% on my car.

2 ply FX died comes with a 3 year warranty.. protects against bubbling, cracking, etc.

the colorstable is a lot more but comes with a lifetime nationwide warranty that covers all the thigns 2 ply covers plus color change. If the tint EVER changes color (purple etc) for ANY reason I'm covered.

Check if there is a "Formula One" dealer in your area. Formula One is a nationwide tinting shop that carried 3M products.

The 20% colorstable is actually 15% or so... DARK. It's called CS20

Whatever you do, don't get 2% on the front 2. Cops don't like that, and write you tickets

well DUH!

Large sunstrips are a no-no too (although mine was half the windsheild until my glass was shattered)

Don't do "Shotgun" tint stip either (where the top and bottom is tinted with just a strip in the middle untinted)

Laws are different state to state but overall they all agree on these 2 items... and Dark's 2% too lol

Re: New to Window Tint -
I think I may just go super-darker on the back ones (black hole tint is the only other option, lol) and put 25% on the fronts so the contrast makes the fronts look a lot lighter.

Madico and Suntek are good brands. I had my last truck done 2% all the way around and the windshield done in 50%. My next truck will be the same expect the windshield will be 35%

Re: New to Window Tint -
I have tinted every vehicle i have ever had and I can't stand riding in vehicles without it. I used to get tickets for it but maybe I drive better now or maybe the cops don't care as much 'cause I havn't gotten a ticket for it in about 3 years (knocks on wood). If I remember right they used to give fix-it tickets for it here, you either pay $45 or take it off and show them at the courthouse and pay $0. For $45 I usually just paid it. The only time I took it off was when the same cop gave me 2 tickets for it in 2 days and told me he is pulling me over everytime he sees my car and that he would be on the same patrol that was right around my house for the next 6 months.

Re: New to Window Tint -
Suntek is excellent film, i own a tinting business, i am not pimping this film, but i have been using it for several years with no failures. I exclusivly use the carbon series.

All tint manu's have cheap films so don't be fooled by a name.

Once you go tint you never go back.

PRECUT TINT SUCKS, it will not fit the way they say it will.
