A/C Recycle Door Motor Knocking
I have a 1994 K1500 Extra Cab Silverado. When turning ignition key on/off their is a knocking coming from the motor that moves the A/C Recycle door/flap under/behind the blower. I removed the blower motor to have a better view of the Recycle door/flap to see what was going on with this knocking. Seems that when the Recycle door/flap reaches the either the full open or closed positions the motor that moves it continues to cycle to move it in the closed/open position. This continues with a knocking sound for up to 20 seconds. At this point it does stop knocking and doesn't have any adverse affect on the HVAC operation. However, this knocking of the actuator motor has become very nerve racking and I'd like to get this actuator motor replaced before the whole thing goes kaput. Anyone know what this actuator motor that opens/closes the Recycle door/flap's correct part name/# is? Any information/assistance on it's easy removal installation would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!! (This is my first post)

First of all, welcome to the site! Your not that far from me.

My 94 Silverado is doing the same thing. I've been meaning to take care of it just havent gotten around to it yet. Too many projects. I would be interested in the part # also.

there was a post about this some time ago that i found when mine did it. turn the ign. on but dont start the truck and then unplug the connector at the motor actuator. the motor itself needs to be replaced but you will have to pull the ac to do it.

How much of the A/C stuff do you have to take off? Is it a quick project?

the recirc door is the one between the firewall and the ac. my guess is that you will have to remove the under dash ac unit. however, i have not tried this specifically, i am waiting to do it once i have the steering column wiring figured out to perform the dash swap on mine.

Re: A/C Recycle Door Motor Knocking
just unplug the actuator for now, put it to either outside or recirc, then unplug it

Re: A/C Recycle Door Motor Knocking
no you can lay on the pass side floorboard and with a small flat screwdriver unplug the connector.
