Re: My compass is reading WRONG!
Try driving around in circles. Seriously, it might need to be recalibrated

Re: My compass is reading WRONG!
The manual for my truck tells me to drive around in circles at 5MPH.
Just don't get dizzy!
..and this is a serious post believe it or not.
Let me know how it works out, I know mine is about 45 degrees off but I keep forgetting to drive around and look like a tourist.

Re: My compass is reading WRONG!
You can take the manual's instructions literally and drive in circles OR drive around a block once or twice so the compass goes thru one or more 360º rotations.
Then make sure the manetic north zone for your location is reasonably close.
If still no improvement, try someone else's compass because yours likely is malfunctioning.

right, before trying to calibrate it, you need to program it for the right part of the country.

Re: My compass is reading WRONG!
yes, you have to set the declination before you do the calibration.

Re: My compass is reading WRONG!
This is my mirror with the switch on the botttom, not buttons. Mine is exaclty like this but mine has a compass. I am not sure how to program it. A "C" was on the display after I had it plugged it in. So I drove in a circle. It is right in all ways except for E and W.....weird.

Re: My compass is reading WRONG!
you have to pick a 'zone' and enter that.. otherwise the compass can not compensate for true north.
The manual says M is mirror only, C/M is compass and mirror.
Ignition on, switch in c/m position.
Press and hold CAL button for 5 seconds.
Yakima, WA is zone 3.
Hold CAL button until 3 appears in the display.
Release the switch and your compass should be correctly set.

Re: My compass is reading WRONG!
WELP.....No Workie....I did all things as perscribed. West is still reading East....East is still reading West.....I have tried recalbrating in each zone. 1-15......besides a difference in directing between north and south....
Any solutions?

The product is either deffective or it is installer error. Which one do you want to believe it is?

Re: My compass is reading WRONG!
Try the bottom sentence in my other post (#4) because there may be a very good reason why you might have gotten a good price on what appears to be an older model or non-OEM (for GM) mirror.

Then try returning the product for another one and pay more attention when installing it this time!
