Ball joint flip , UCA rubs wheels

I been researching ball joint flips and iv'e seen people say that your UCA will rub on stock wheels. I have 36" tires on stock wheels. Any suggestions? What kind of after market wheels would fox this?

Assuming you have 16"s, I would think 17"s would clear.

Re: Ball joint flip , UCA rubs wheels

i heard 15 will clear, because the 17 has a bigger circomference and i think the 17 would rub even more. Or an after market wheel with less bacck spacing.

Re: Ball joint flip , UCA rubs wheels

an old one here, but didn't want to start a new thread about it.

i am going to do the bj flip, but have factory obs 16" wheels. i've searched & still couldn't find a definitive answer about them rubbing on stock wheels or not. i do have a set of 17's, but i need tires for them. in other words, i want to make sure i can clear stock wheels before i do the flip.

thanks!!!

Regardless, the Aluminum wheel has a much smaller ID than the steel wheel does. This is likely to be the cause (or at least a large contributor) of the rubbing on the UCA.

Re: Ball joint flip , UCA rubs wheels

it puts the upper control arms further away from the bumpstop so it will ride better & not constantly be hitting them. and will help the longevity of the ball joints by putting them at a better angle.

Re: Ball joint flip , UCA rubs wheels

less backspacing will help, both the stock steel and aluminum wheels are 5.5" BS

Re: Ball joint flip , UCA rubs wheels

in my experience stock steel rims rubbed the bolts holding the bj in but you could cut the bolts to fit , i dont think aluminum rims would work out
