whats the difference between knuckle full boy and cognito lifts

i've been trying to do some research on suspension lifts and I am seeing that there are differences in each type of lift but I am not sure what evry one of them is.


I am about to come into a **** load of overtime money in the next few weeks and plan to drop a few bills into my 04 sierra.

any info/pictures will help.

spindle lifts make the front tires stick out more than the rear. bracket lifts are more professional and you have to notch the frame to put the drop brackets in and the front tires will match the rear. but the cost for a bracket lift over a spindle lift can be alot depending on the company you go with. i know the pro comp spindle lift is the lift that wont put the front tires out as much as the rest.

If the kit is a 6" kit, then that means the lower control arms, upper control arms, front differential, and steering are all dropped down 6". This gives you factory angles on the CV shafts.

If both kits are 6" kits, then both of them will have the same height with the torsion bars set at the factory spot. The knuckle kit will just have steeper CV shaft angles because the front diff is only dropped part of the way versus all the way on the full drop kit.

The benefits of the full drop kit are that you can crank higher if you choose to. The knuckle lift will hold alignment better because the upper control arms are still in the factory location and therefore use the factory alignment cams. Downfalls of the full drop kit is that it requires a new front driveshaft because of the angle put on the joint at the transfercase. Downfall of the knuckle kit is that you can not crank as high and some of them increase the front track width alot (the Fabtech kits pushes them out almost 2" per side).

The Cognito kit is a hybrid design. It uses knuckles so that you get the easier alignent and other benefits, bu tit also drops teh front diff the full amount so you have less stress on the CV shafts.

Cognito for a Spindle lift or CST or Upper cntrol arm drop lift... Only two companies Id deal with they are top notch and have more options then most companies....
