Big or small

I am looking for a little more acceleration. I do not know what gears i should get though. I am running 35's with a skyjacker 3" suspension lift. I want to still be able to mess with people on the interstate with top end. I was thinking maybe 4.10 gears

Re: Big or small

you are probably running 3.73's now? 4.56's will just make it easier to get going from a stop and will put you more in the correct power range for your truck while on the highway. 4.56's will just make your transmission happier and not work quite so hard...Honestly, you MIGHT lose a MPG or 2, but your transmission will like you better :)

Re: Big or small

I am running 315/70/17 tires with 4.56 gears, and on the highway unloaded with my tonneau cover on, I am getting around 17.5 mpg. This was out west going across the mountains from Washington to Wyoming and back.

Re: Big or small

your mileage will go up in the city and if your gettin 14 it will go up on the highway as well or it should. it should do better all around.

Re: Big or small

I agree, city should go up. Your truck does the most work getting going from a stop, the gears will help that.

Re: Big or small

Your rpms will be higher at higher speeds, therefore you will loose some highway mpgs.

Re: Big or small

With 4.56s you would get better mileage in town because your truck would be working less to move some stoplights etc. thus saving fuel. Highway should put it back to stock or near.

Depends if you install them yourself, and it's definatly one thing you really want to know what you are doing. For two diffs, with labour and parts figure around 2 grand.

What size tire? For 35s 4.56 are usually about right.
