Re: Solid Axle Conversion Tech
here is a good shackle flip kit. http://www.offroaddesign.com/catalog/shacklekit.htm
Just do something like that and run the stock size rear springs with a lift of whatever. |

Re: Solid Axle Conversion Tech
Go check out BnC, once you see how not to do it there talk to a fabricator that will DESIGN you a 4 link. Ask about costs and time involved and coilovers are $5-600 a corner. Its expensive, leafs are a lot cheaper and are much much better for a DD.

Re: Solid Axle Conversion Tech
I wonder if it would be possible to adapt a 2005 ford lift kit with coils to make a strait axle chevy

Re: Solid Axle Conversion Tech
Anything is possible if you want to do it.
I would run a nice leaf pack under the front simple and cheap. You can get a good ride out of them if you get the right spring pack. I wouldnt run coils. If I went that far I would run a 4 link setup with coilovers.

Yup, I ordered all four of my packs from alcan a week ago. Should ride nice and flex like hell, not to mention I didn't go with mush lift.

Re: Solid Axle Conversion Tech
What are all you OBS SAS trucks doing with your crossmember? The yoke is way back and driveshaft would hit member. Thought about old chevy flange, seen them 4-6" or so, and then double CV's to slip shaft. Just not sure about price? Any solutions?
Thanks

Re: Solid Axle Conversion Tech
I haven't gotten there yet, but my plan is a fully clocked up NP241 p-drop with a K5 CV shaft to clear the crossmember. I hope it works. If not, its fabbing time.

Re: Solid Axle Conversion Tech
if you run rockwells don't run smaller than 42" like stated. its nothing different than a regular axle only its a 2.5 ton or 5 ton axle. behaves the same way. they are already locked though and have a 6.?? ratio. I have seen a few pickups w/ them but they are serious trail rigs.
Another things you guys are forgetting about is MOG axles. Almost unbreakable by anything w/ 550 hp or under and 46" or under tires. They provide awesome ground clearance and have the tire inflator thingy like the humvees
