Its not the Ford Torsion bars, those will not work. Its the torsion keys. From what I understand, it will lift the truck 2" without torquing the torsion bars up.

The Ford keys do cranck up your bars. The only reason to put the new keys in is to be able to crank more than you can with stock keys. Try to crank with your stock stock keys first, if you get the lift you are looking for great. You will not get 4" of lift off of cranking. Your CV angles will be so extreme with 4" of crank that you won't be able to even drive it.

ok I dont know if it was answered yet but read thru first 9 pages and was falling asleep. I've got a 89 silverado k1500 what do I need to get the front to handle better suspention wise all ready cranked stock keys but ride is almost to the edge of killing me. Also will the ford keys take some of the tension out of the harsh ride?

any thing will help

get a suspension lift

ford keys will not under any circumstances improve the ride...crank is crank.

they let you crank more than stock keys do. on my stock keys i only got like 1/2"-3/4" lift before my keys were bottomed out on the crossmember.. with replacement keys i went up 1 1/4" and could still go way more if i wanted.

I dont know how people go up 2 inches without changing anything but the keys.. at 1 1/4" my arms are almost at the droop stops... and i DEFINATELY need different shocks. not to mention my cv angles are about as high as i would want them..

I think im going to get the cognito arms and some new shocks to fix the ride a little.

OH and for the record the green keys work for '99 2500 LD trucks. my keys in my 99 2500 LD were the exact same clock as my friends 2500 HD keys, even though they are a different color. But the HD's will get more tire to fender clearance since I think the body sits about an inch higher to begin with.

some people see the price of replacing cvs lower than that of buying a real lift kit as the better deal

basicly people are looking for a cheap way to lift without buying a suspension lift

THIS IS NOT A WAY TO LIFT. this is to level the truck. if you want 4+ inches you get a lift kit. but this lets you get it level with out having a lifted truck.

Is it my understanding that the part number 15592573 is what I'm going to need for both sides of my truck? Like that will is universal for the L and R side? Which is cheaper to buy them at, Partzoneonline or GMpartsdirect? Thanks

Saw mention and a drawing of a simple tool on here (thanks) so I made my own in about a half hour using some scarp 1/2" steel plate I had lying around. Worked great with no fear of slipping off. I tried using a tapered end bolt in the key divet but ran out of thread on the bolt before the key was pushed up enough. So, got another bolt and simply moved the clamp over on the key towards the torsion bar. Was somewhat harder to push there but the bolt worked well anyway.

Pic of tool.....

i personally wouldn't trust it... i'd be afraid of breaking those bolts..
