Re: Common Lift/Tire Combo's for OBS/NBS Trucks & SUVs

i've got a 6" RCD kit that isn't even up all the way on 18x9 rims wrapped in 35/12.50-18 Toyo M/T's and i BARELY rub, though i wouldn't even come close to fitting these without trimming the bumper back a bit. My new 325/65-18 Nitto Terra Grapplers were delivered yesterday and i know i'm going to have to go up to clear 'em the way i want to. I think i'll need almost another inch to make it kosher. When the M/T's die i'll post an update to keep you guys posted.

Re: Common Lift/Tire Combo's for OBS/NBS Trucks & SUVs

Im running 33x12.50R15 tires on my 98 Sierra with just the torsion bars cranked and the only rubbing i get is if i take a speed hump too fast, but its only a light rub on the plastic on the lower front of the fenders. But my shocks are also old.

Talking Re: Common Lift/Tire Combo's for OBS/NBS Trucks & SUVs

I have an OBS 1992 Z-71 with a 2 in. rough country lift. I have factory rims and Bf Goodrich 315/75R16s. No trimming and they fit good. I get compliments all the time and have for the past 4 years of running this setup.

Re: Common Lift/Tire Combo's for OBS/NBS Trucks & SUVs

I'm glad you put up this chart. I was trying to convince myself that 33's will fit stock with cranking, but couldn't spend the money on a hunch. They looked like they'd fit... Anyway, now I know and can go forward in all confidence. Thanks

F'ed that plan, 35x12.5" Nitto Terra-grapplers on 17" wheels. Stock suspension, no AAL, no blocks, no aftermarket or ford-style key swaps. Pics at photobucket: http://s524.photobucket.com/albums/c...t=35sstock.jpg

Re: Common Lift/Tire Combo's for OBS/NBS Trucks & SUVs

Ok after reading many pages. I still have a question. I have a stock height 98 k2500 extended cab, short bed, with a 454. Currently there are small 245/75/16's would like to go bigger. it sits pretty low in the front. I have not been able to find any leveling kits for my truck with the 454 only small blocks. What size tire would actually work. I do drive this every day and take it to the deer lease. That has a lot of ruts and what not. Any suggestions would be appreciated. One of these days when i can afford it i want a 6" RCD lift.

P.s. I dont like body lifts so that would not be an option. I would rather do a suspension lift only in the future. As far as the key adjustment how much should i adjust it. And still have a comfortable ride.

Re: Common Lift/Tire Combo's for OBS/NBS Trucks & SUVs

comfortable ride is up to you. 2" is usually the max on keys though if you want to save your front end parts. and a leveling kit for a 4wd is just re indexed keys. you dont need them on OBS chevys the keys are indexed already so you can crank to the sky if your heart desired. so go ahead and crank em up a lil bit see how you like it. then get it aligned

That's good to know. I have actually replaced every steering part under the front end within the last year as it is. Put on some stock style bilstien shocks the yellow ones. I really like the 5100 series but won't get them until the lift is done. Is it simple to crank up the keys on my truck? I have never messed with them. Now with all this being said. Would you say a 285/75/16 would be the tire to get or would one go to a 265/75/16 because the truck will see some light off-roading?

Re: Common Lift/Tire Combo's for OBS/NBS Trucks & SUVs

on stock wheels 285/75 will fit nicely. thats like a 32" tire. idk how much it will sag with the weight of a 454 though. to crank the torsion bars simply lift the truck off the ground and turn the adjusting bolts on the torsion bar cross member. i think its a 17mm bolt. there is a sticky at the top of the off road page with pictures and instructions. its very simple and probably one of the most popular mods on these trucks.

Re: Common Lift/Tire Combo's for OBS/NBS Trucks & SUVs

I have a 2001 Tahoe LS. Looking at doing ford keys and 1.5 or 2 inch spacers. Could I fit a 16x10 rims with 305/70/16 Tires?

Thanks

Re: Common Lift/Tire Combo's for OBS/NBS Trucks & SUVs

Not sure if someone brought this up on here, but I have a 2000 1500 Z71 NBS and I was wondering if anyone is running 15" rims at all? I've heard some people talking about brake caliper rub, but just wanted to see what people think before I make any stupid decisions. Thanks.
