How about some 2wd to add to the mix. There are plnty of lifted 2wd's on the site and I am sure people are interested to know that as well. Looks good though, very imformative.

Great thread!! I joined to learn things like this. Im going with a 3" body lift and 15x8 wheels with 32x11.5 tires. That should be as big as I can go without a suspension lift.

the HD's have a little bigger wheelwells, you might be able to 'shove' some 36s under there, but 35 would be a safe bet.

Just finished my body lift(3") on my 03 sub, and I am running 295/75/16's on stock wheels. No rubbing as of now. Thanks, Shannon

Ok, How about for an 03 Sierra Denali? I have the t-bars cranked 6 full turn and it gave the truck an inch. They have at least a few more turns left before they bottom out so there is more height to be had. I was trying to level out the truck some but now I think I would like to make it a little bigger with some different wheels and tires.
Any ideas, I am from Maine so we can't go to big here or it won't be allowed on the street.

cokedrvrbjw: I run 35s on my '02 HD. 6" lift and cranked the bars enough to get close to 7.5" of lift in the front. I still had to do a little trimming at the corner of the airdam. Tires on this truck are 325/65/18s.

No, the wheel wells are the same. The difference is the H.D.'s frame is bigger, so it is like it has a 2" body-lift.

Hello,
OK - I think I have this whole backspacing thing figured out but.............................................
I have an '01 Silverado Z-71 with the original wheels on it. I installed FORD keys up front and bout myself 2.5 extra inches for about $50 total. I am thinking about 1.5" lift blocks in back, but don't think necessary.
What I need to be sure of are two things:
1- Can I put on 305/70's with this current setup on my stock wheels?
2- If I put on 1.3" thick hub adapters would this help or hurt my fit? I would assume it would result in less problems / less trimming but I'm not sure.
Any advise would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
-Jesse

I'm wondering why you're going through all of that just to put 305's on an otherwise stock Z-71? I have 305/70R16 MT/R's on my stock 99 Z-71 with minimal t-bar cranking. I had the 305's (AT/S's and MT/R's) on the stock 16x7 rims with NO rubbing and only "minor" rubbing on the left front running 16x8 AR Atlas (4.5" backspacing?) - the wider rim helps the tire fill out more. Now I have no rubbing after running the MT/R's since March - replaced 305 GY AT/S's. I guess I'm just trying to save you some work and $$$.

Thanks for the reply.
I did the Ford Key thing just because it seemed (after reading alot of threads here) the better way to go instead of just cranking.
I am glad to see you have had no rubbing issues even w the 305 MTR's - I do substantial hwy driving so will probably get a set of ATS'.
Sweet truck! - Mine is same color. I like the way yours looks w/o any additional lift in back / minimal in front. I think I will skip the lift blocks and go with what I have. I may even consider cranking down a 1/4 turn or so because when I put the ford keys in, my truck is about 1/2" higher in front than in back. I thought it would "settle" after a couple weeks, but no way.
I found out that the hub spacers actually make rubbing worse, so that'll save me a couple 100.

Cool, Jesse, glad to hear you won't be using the hub spacer's! And I didn't know they cost that much!

hd's cant use ford keys. if you dont have them get green keys. there is a HUGE sticky about this. read it.
as far as tires, 285s on stock rims is my favorite

285/75/16?
I thought regular 1/2 ton LT could go that big. doesn't the HD have an additional 2'' of space?

with the shape of the fenders its hard to stuff tires in there.
yes half tons can fit them stock, but IMO they NEED ford keys at least. hence the two inches.
im not a fan of jamming the biggest tire you can afford into a stock truck. that southern style is fugly IMO and not practicle. on a stock HD you can fit a 295/75 but those tires are alot more $$ than 285's i think
