i was about 10 sec from handing the dealer the deposit check for a black ex cab 2500hd duramax/allison LS with tow package and bling wheels

then i foudn out in michigan sales tax would be on $35,000 whereas in NY (where i am from) it would be $13,000 (differance b/t trade in and new truck)

so now the battle plan changes

Big tires on a stock truck? A southern thing? WTF? Oh, brother. Well, this southern boy bought a used 99 with 305's already on it - in PA. So, aside from the ethnic stereotype, I like having 305's on my truck and I haven't had any problems running them with the stock t-bar keys.

cmon, dont even try to say that southerners are an ethnic group thats a joke

i realize its stereotyping yes, but its really another talk show. the topic of tires is here.

305s will work, its all in preference, personal taste. i prefer the look of 285s to 305s. both work its just two different looks.

I currently have 285's on stock rims and stock suspension. Id' like to step up to a 6" lift and 35" 's. I've been told that Pro-Comp lifts have some problems with ball joints. Any comments or suggestions for the brand of lift kit to go with?

I have a 2001 2500HD and I fit 305/75/16 under my truck stock with no torsion bar adjustment and light trimming to the bumper. They were mounted on a 16x8 wheel. I now have a 8" Fabtech lift and a 3" body lift on my truck with 38x15.50 running on it.

Did the 2WD drive guys ever speak up?

I have a 4 1/2" lift and I easily fit 305/70 R16. I should of gone 315/75 R16.

BTY... I have an OBS. It makes a difference.

Nice list. One note-- Fabtech's information says their 6" is recommended for 35x12.50s and 16x8 wheels. Not coincidentally, I'm running the 16x8s. I did slightly trim the front bumper and air dam though.

From all the Tire shops I've spoken to, they say 315's will fit on a stock height HD, with no mods. Myself, I'm going to go ahead with the green keys before I make a tire change! I'm also going with a 295/75/16 on 16X8's, with a possible upgrade to 315's later, I just wanna see how they fit first . When I first got my HD, I noticed it was almost the same height as the Yukon (next to it), and it's got a 6" RCD w/35's, so I figured the only difference (height wise) was the difference in tire height.

Hey Guys, I've got a 2001 Z-71, with 285/75/10 tires with stock rims and I'm thinking about getting a 3 inch body lift. Do yall think it will look good? Also I was wondering how big do 285/75/10 tires translate to like compared to 33's?

285/75R16, I bet you mean, since that is what you list in your sig.

285s are about 33x11.50, 305/70R16 is about 33x12.50.
These are not exact-EXACT translations of the sizes, and different brands will differ from one to the other.

I would think that they would/could be a bit small with the body lift.
Your 2" lift is a torsion bar crank, correct?
I would think that if you are using your stock rims that 295/75R16 would look very nice (about 34x11.50, and thus better fitted to your rim's width than the 305).

What's the biggest size tires can I put w/ 16x10's on a stock 00 4x4. Right now I'm running 265 75 16's. I wanna put the biggest size w/o a lift.BTW torsion bars are cranked. Also when they say trim where do they mean?

anyone running a 32 x 11.5 (x16)on a stock ride height silverado?

I need new tires but expect a 2500HD in the driveway soon so i'd like the biggest tires i can right now and swappem later. Im more concerned about width that height because most of my offoading is at the sand dunes. Actually, all of it is- all that a stock truck couldn't handle anway -back ally/trail behind the house, feild and occasional curb (damn school! make the parking lot wider! if someone parks next to me, i cant get out!) Not a fan of the mud pits around here as its all tight trails and a body damage magnet.

Seeing how its going to be a heavy diesel, width is important to me.
