Common Lift/Tire Combo's for OBS/NBS Trucks & SUVs
These are only common lift/tire combinations that seem to work well together. Some setups may rub in off-highway situations, but most allow for clearance. Any wheel that is 'not recommended' for that particular height can be run, but is not advisable.

Metric Tire Size Conversion

OBS Trucks (88-98), OBS SUVs (92-99):

Stock height
- 285/75R16 & 32/11.5R15 on Stock wheels or 16x8/15x8 (possible torsion bar crank); 16x10/15x10 not recommended
- 305/70R16 & 33/12.5R15 on Stock wheels or 16x8/15x8 (torsion bar crank and light trimming); 16x10/15x10 (torsion bar crank and heavy trimming, or cutout flares)

3" Suspenion Lift or Body Lift
- 305/70R16 & 33/12.5R15 on Stock Wheels or 16x8/15x8; 16x10/15x10 (possible torsion bar crank and light trimming)
- 315/75R16 & 35/12.5R15 on Stock Wheels or 16x8/15x8 (torsion bar crank and heavy trimming, or cutout flares); 16x10/15x10 not recommended

4" Suspension Lift
- 305/70R16 & 33/12.5R15 on Stock Wheels or 16x8/15x8; 16x10/15x10 (possible torsion bar crank and light trimming)
- 315/75R16 & 35/12.5R15 on Stock Wheels or 16x8/15x8 (torsion bar crank and heavy trimming); 16x10/15x10 (cutout flares)

6" Total Lift (3" Suspension Lift + 3" Body Lift or 6" Suspension Lift)
- 315/75R16 & 35/12.5R15 on Stock Wheels or 16x8/15x8; 16x10/15x10 (possible torsion bar crank and light trimming)
- 36/12.5R16 & 36/12.5R15 on Stock Wheels or 16x8/15x8 (torsion bar crank and heavy trimming); 16x10/15x10 not recommended

7" Total Lift (4" Suspension Lift + 3" Body Lift)
- 315/75R16 & 35/12.5R15 on Stock Wheels, 16x8/15x8, or 16x10/15x10
- 36/12.5R16 & 36/12.5R15 on Stock Wheels or 16x8/15x8 (torsion bar crank and light trimming); 16x10/15x10 (torsion bar crank and heavy trimming, or cutout flares)

9" Total Lift (6" Suspension Lift + 3" Body Lift)
- 315/75R16 & 35/12.5R15 on Stock Wheels, 16x8/15x8, or 16x10/15x10
- 36/12.5R16 & 36/12.5R15 on Stock Wheels, 16x8/15x8, or 16x10/15x10
- 38/15.5R16 & 38/15.5R15 on 16x10/15x10 (torsion bar crank and light trimming)

NBS Trucks (99-03), NBS SUVs (00-03):

Stock height
- 285/75R16 on Stock wheels or 16x8 (possible torsion bar crank); 16x10 not recommended
- 305/70R16 on Stock wheels or 16x8 (torsion bar crank and light trimming); 16x10 (torsion bar crank and heavy trimming, or cutout flares)

3" Suspenion Lift or Body Lift
- 305/70R16 and under on Stock Wheels or 16x8; 16x10 (possible torsion bar crank and light trimming)
- 315/75R16 on Stock Wheels or 16x8 (torsion bar crank and heavy trimming, or cutout flares); 16x10 not recommended

4" Suspension Lift
- 305/70R16 and under on Stock Wheels or 16x8; 16x10 (possible torsion bar crank and light trimming)
- 315/75R16 on Stock Wheels or 16x8 (torsion bar crank and heavy trimming); 16x10 (cutout flares)

6" Total Lift (3" Suspension Lift + 3" Body Lift or 6" Suspension Lift)
- 315/75R16 on Stock Wheels or 16x8; 16x10 (possible torsion bar crank and light trimming)
- 36/12.5R16 on Stock Wheels or 16x8 (torsion bar crank and heavy trimming); 16x10 not recommended

7" Total Lift (4" Suspension Lift + 3" Body Lift)
- 315/75R16 on Stock Wheels, 16x8, or 16x10
- 36/12.5R16 on Stock Wheels or 16x8 (torsion bar crank and light trimming); 16x10 (torsion bar crank and heavy trimming, or cutout flares)

9" Total Lift (6" Suspension Lift + 3" Body Lift)
- 315/75R16 on Stock Wheels, 16x8, or 16x10
- 36/12.5R16 on Stock Wheels, 16x8, or 16x10
- 38/15.5R16 on 16x10 (torsion bar crank and heavy trimming)

How about some 2wd to add to the mix. There are plnty of lifted 2wd's on the site and I am sure people are interested to know that as well. Looks good though, very imformative.

Thumbs up
Way to go Slamchops !

looks good.

The info is a GREAT place to start for people wanting to lift but dont have much knowledge about how much to get.

Now if we can only make a sticky outlining the differences and actual lift hieghts of the kits (spindle vs full drops, amount of front axel drop, amount of LCA drop, etc)...............

Good job Walter

Crap, nice list. My fingers would have fallen off from all that freaking typing!

Hey DaneZ71 - Got any pics of your ride? I am interested in seeing the 315s on with an RCD lift. Did you crank the t-bars or add anything in the rear for more lift? Any info would help. BTW, I had sent you several PMs, but with no response.

Thanks man, your idea sounds real good too. i was thinkin about that, but there's a lot of specs to deal with. should get a few ppl in on that one, it'd save us some time writing it all up. it'd be EXTREMELY useful with all the 'what lift should i get' threads we get. we could even have a user rating at the end of the listing for each one.

DS, thanks as well, the typing wasnt hard, i just did the list for the OBS and copy/paste to make a new list and just tweaked it for the NBS. ;)

So let me get this straight. I have a 00 Z71 and if I get a 6" lift with 8" width wheels they wont rub, but if I get 10" width wheels, they will rub. Correct?

what size tire? 35"? 10s might rub/might not rub, you might just have to crank a little to clear them, or you might have to trim a little plastic.

Nice list. However, I have a 2001 Tahoe Z71 with 17" wheels. What are my options?

Stock height, stock wheels.
3" body lift, stock wheels.
3" body lift, aftermarket wheels.

Thanks.

On my 97 yukon I have a 6+3 combo with 36x14.5R15 and I want to go th 38.5x15.5 R15x10 like tennesee did but mine rubs now.

What do I need to do? Is my backspacing incorrect or do i need to crank the T-bars? my angles look good right now. Or mabey a ball joint flip? Thanks

what size wheel? im guessing 15x10? are you rubbing on flat ground wheel at full lock or flexed up at full lock? the best thing is to find out where you're rubbing, see how bad its rubbing and crank a little and trim a little, theres lots of plastic you can trim... just take it a step at a time, trim a little, still rubs, crank a little, still rubs, trim some more...

another good bet would be to PM tennessee and see what he had to do to fit those tires. that way you'll have a general idea of what to do, and what 'interferences' you might run into... ;)

Slamchops,

Thanks It looks like I'm Rubbing whem i'm at full wheel lock. I think if I remove my fender flares I might be ok. Or do you think if I change my key to a ferd key and then crank the t-bars i would be better off of just start cranking before I remove my flares?

if your cv angles are good enough right now, i'd just crank a little, or maybe put in the ford keys and crank a little. then if you still rub trim it back...
