Thanks for setting it all straight. Ill update that later tonight. I may double check the fabtech diff drop though, I could have sworn I saw 4.5 in lots of places, but I could very well be wrong.

No Problem. I believe the guy that I talked to at Fabtech was Louis. I thought only 4" was strange also. When I asked him why they only dropped it 4" when other spindle lifts dropped it 4.5" he said "I don't know why they only drop it that much". It does not say on their website, so you may want to call them.

Re: Lift Specs
Does anyone know which OBS kit adds the least amount to your front track width? I don't want the front tires sticking out way more than the back like I see on some lifted trucks.

Any non knuckle lift wont add any width. The dick cepeck 6.5" is what I would pick.

tried to make a lift kit? no.

i have heard of 1 guy that extented a 6" to 8"

but u know... this isnt somthing easily made.... it has to keep all specs to keep alignment and steering in check...

when u can get kits so cheap, building one isnt worth it... it probally wouldnt even save u that much after all the materials you would have to buy

not to mention the time and testing

Thanks. I guess the extra track width would allow more clearance for turning, though.

Re: Lift Specs
I thought you gained trac width when installing cv spacers that come with a lift kit. Is this not true that there is not trac width when using these spacers? I thought depending on the width of the spacer that was your trac width gained on the lift. I don't know if I'm stating this right, but I hope some one gets what I am talking about.

Re: Lift Specs
Maybe I overlooked it, the 2500HD, and 3500 has the same setup in 4x4 as it does in 4x2 trim. So you can add the 4x2`s to the list for the HD`s.

I took a 6-8" BDS lift, and a 2-3" lift (for the older style GM 1/2 ton truck upto 1998`s) and made it an 9-10" lift. (Set at 10") But I would not recommend anyone do this unless they know what they are doing.

Re: Lift Specs
Newb question (good FAQ material?) what's the useful (if any?) difference in the rear lifts that replace the leaf spring versus the ones that use blocks under the stock leaf? From the photos I've seen, I rather prefe rthe appearance of the blocks over the HUGE arcing replacement leafs, but I'm curious what advantages justify the increased cost?

Very useful info here so far though - your efforts are appreciated.

Thanks,
- BB

Re: Lift Specs
So have we all decided on what lift drops the diff a full 6"s on the NBS? Or is 4.5" what you have to be happy with? Also have we decided on the "best" 6" kit for the NBS? I've read alot of threads already and everyone has their own opp.'s!

Re: Lift Specs
From my experience knee deep in doing the install myself:
-Tuff County 88-98 4x4
-Spindle lift
-Widens front track, looks like almost 2" per side, I'll measure later for you
-Welded single piece drop sub frame, not sure how big the diff drop is, LCA's dropped 5 5/8".
-Lateral compression struts
-4" lift blocks
-Add-a-leaves on 6" kit
-Mine came with shocks, maybe a new addition, because the instructions swear up and down that the kit doesn't come with them. The instructions that I printed off the internet and the ones that come with the kit are a little different?
-So far I am happy with the decision, essentially an RCD for 400 less.

Another lift to add to Lift Specs
This thread is really helpful. Tons of info.

While researching lifts I ran across this new product from Skyjacker. This should expand options for those wanting more than a TB crank but not wanting to do the body lifts.

I want a real moderate lift of 3" and crank the TB's about 1.5" - 2" to stuff 34" BFG's under it. Ok with trimming and pinning back rear sheetmetal under the fender well cover (not seen).

Skyjacker 3" suspension lift, knuckle kit with 1.5" block in the rear. Available in Jan of 2007.

http://www.skyjacker.com/

#C9381K for 01-06 GM 2500HD. Tech claims 3/4" wider on each side, max 4.5" BS per wheel.

#C9461K for 99-05 1500, Avy, Tahoe, Yukon, Escy, Denali, Suburban.
