Re: New Forum for 2WD offroaders
does this apply to lifted street? my point is , not evrybody with a lifted 2wd has the sole intention of running in the mud. me personaly , i really only take it on dirt trails when i go shooting or camping

Re: New Forum for 2WD offroaders
what kind of truck do you have? if u have a 1500HD or 2500HD 2wd you can crank the torsions. But if u have a 1500LD then just get a coil spacer kit to bring the front up.

Re: New Forum for 2WD offroaders
Unless you have locking rear difs you only have a 1wd. You can do a lot with a 2wd but you have to be carefull to keep moving and not stop when the wheels start spining. You can incrrease your range by adding better tires, wheels, lift, etc.

Re: New Forum for 2WD offroaders
I drive a 90 GMC 3500 with a 7.4l 454 and 2WD. Its got a granny 4 speed transmission and i can crawl through just about anything. ive had it stuck once. but that was in deep mud.. and i wasnt prepared for it.(didnt know it was there). I agree with all the posters that said its all about technique and knowing the area ur driving in. Like i said the one time i had my rig stuck it was in an area i didnt know. also, My truck just has a 3" body lift right now cuz i cant find a suspension lift for it. Anyone know where i can get one for my big truck. 3500, 2wd, 8 lug.. ive looked everywhere

Re: New Forum for 2WD offroaders
No idea about your lift im in the same predicament with the 3500 dually...but the 2wd's have more ground clearance up front.

I agree with lorado, call me a poser if you want,my truck will never see offroad.if I would have lowered it I wouldn't of been happy until it was laying frame! I already have 3 minitrucks that do that. plus I love the way 2wds look with all that clearance in the front! ![]() |

Re: New Forum for 2WD offroaders
Its great to see a 2wd offroad forum. my truck had a 5/7 drop on it, I drove it for 3 years like that and finally got tired of it i had hell at alot of lakes trying to get my boat down or up the ramp so i went back stock and now i have a 3 inch procomp lift and coulnt be happier. well actually i still wanna go up a couple more inches

Re: New Forum for 2WD offroaders
I have a Rough Country 4" spindle lift on my 92 2wd check out my gallery. And the best thing about 2wd is the 14" of ground clearance i have in the front now. And I don't understand why everyone thinks that you can't go wheelin in a 2wd truck.

Re: New Forum for 2WD offroaders
Man i have a 2wd 93 with a 5.7 and i had an open diff and ran thru some mudd holes no problem and then blew the rear end up and found a locker rear end and ever since i have traction everywhere and in everything i watch four wheelrs get stuck in the mudd hole and i just walk right thru but the technique is the key in 4wd u can put in low and pull till u get enough mud under the truck to lift it off the ground... where as in a 2wd
u start out with a little momentum and u keep in the throtle and keep it out of long ruts that all and 9 out of 10 times u will pull right thru what the fourwheel drive got stuck because u clear half the mud... plus u get more power to the wheels with two drive do to simplicity... also less to go wrong and less abuse on the tranny... all around it tests the skills of the driver and believe me if u could find some wide rocky roads and do a sloman going 45mph dodgein pools of water and slidding sideways and whipping the truck back and forth will get your blood pumping and u cant do that in a 4wd becasue one there is not enough clearnce and two they arent as quick... |
