What would you do to a stock 06' 1500 Silverado?
Hey guys, I just became a member of FSC and have enjoyed the posts and viewing the pics. You guys have some awesome rides and have great insight.
Here is my challange to you: I just purchased an 06 1500 Silverado Extended Cab LT w/ the 4.3L V6 (dam* gas prices!). What I'm wanting to do is raise the truck, improving the stance, and increasing the clearance but I dont want to kill the MPG. I don't off road much but I do love to hunt and fish. I like the look of Z71's and Chevy 4x4's so I would love to achieve that look but end up a few inches higher (who doesn't?). Is it possible to do this without killing ride quality and MPG? I was thinking of running tires at 275 or 285, nothing too crazy. What kinds of set-ups do ya'll suggest? Thanks! |

Check out the "post your lifted 2wd" sticky and look for trucks like yours. For 285's, most guys would run 3" rough country spindles with a 2" daystar coil spring spacer, or just 4" springtech/cst spindles. You can use stock wheels with the rough country spindles, but you'll need wheels with 4.5" or less backspacing with the 4" spindles.
As for ride quality, spindles themselves will keep the ride quality exactly the same. The coil spacers will make it a little stiffer, but a lot of guys like that because they say it takes out the spongy feel. When it comes to gas mileage, it will drop a little with 33's. However, there are things you can do, like regearing and getting your truck tuned that will get you back a couple miles. Good luck |
