Re: TBI AirFlow
the ridge around the bores is about .160 - .200" tall. like
removing the ridge, will allow more distance between the injector pod and the bore's edge. raising the pod will again allow more distance increasing the opening area for air to pass into the throttle body. airdeano

Re: TBI AirFlow
What kind of performance/ driveability issues would inccur if a TBI was put on top of a dual plane (carb) intake with adapter plate, vs. a true TBI intake?

Re: TBI AirFlow
slim to no issues. this is common for cross platform engines,
swaps, etc... most use a performer manifold, but one notices a softer low-end feel as the ports are much larger than the TBI manifold. throttle linkage issues are a lil hard, but some fabrication of bracketry fixes that. ive even seen a victor junior intake with a TBI ontop.. airdeano

Re: TBI AirFlow
Ok, so using an intake meant for a carb would more likely increase top end and horespower with the larger intake runners?

Re: TBI AirFlow
Referenced to this thread:
http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/...ad.php?t=83738 Would a 50 mm TBI and a TBI intake on top of a 383, be able to come up with the same numbers that vortec stroker put down, 327.4 RWHP 381.1 RWTQ? I know he was using a completely different intake and fuel delivery system, which I used to have and never really enjoyed even with running 10psi on a procharger, (295RWHP, 310RWTQ) but is the TBI capable/tuneable of putting down the same numbers or more? Re: TBI AirFlow
I ran 260.1 hp with a 50mm tbi, 90 lb inj's at 15 psi, 350HO crate.
intake bored to match. No TB spacer or pod spacer. Using GMPP TBI intake- my next mods are TB spacer, pod spacer, port intake to heads. I bet it's possible ![]() ![]() Still building up to the SAS... |

he's port fuel you are TBI his throttle body meters airflow. fuel is highly atomized through pressure and orifice TBI meters airflow, but also restricts flow of fuel through a low pressure moderatly atomized action. comparo would be a GMPP RamJET 502/502HP it uses a 48mm dual bore (TPI/LT1 throttle body) so support is there, the means of sneaking the fuel through without gross flowpath disruption is the problem. the 48mm tb flows moderate numbers as the 50mm was better. noted on the 54/58mm (TPI/LT1) monster numbers are shown, but again that fuel spray does displace air and airflow. air requirement for a 383 @ 4000rpm is: 377cfm @ 85% efficiency air requirement for a 383 @ 4000rpm is: 443cfm @ 100% efficiency air requirement for a 383 @ 5000rpm is: 470cfm @ 85% efficiency air requirement for a 383 @ 5000rpm is: 554cfm @ 100% efficiency air requirement for a 383 @ 6000rpm is: 565cfm @ 85% efficiency air requirement for a 383 @ 6000rpm is: 664cfm @ 100% efficiency air requirement for a 383 @ 7000rpm is: 659cfm @ 85% efficiency air requirement for a 383 @ 7000rpm is: 775cfm @ 100% efficiency as for the freakish high rear-wheel numbers for TBI.. and keep it drivable... nope! constant tuning and tweaking.. and im not sure if NOS would even do it, maybe once.. ka-boom airdeano

Re: TBI AirFlow
Installing a tbi spacer along with a injector spacer and a velocity stack and maybe long tube headers would be a big plus in power over stock, right? My question is wouldn't this cause lean issues on a stock engine without going into the fuel delivery?
Does my 89 350 have egr, and is there some way to delete it w/o throwing the SES light on?

Re: TBI AirFlow
It Says You Need To Bump Up Your Fuel Pressure Also Above, your Computer Should Adjust If Thats All You Are Doing, but Its Always A Good Idea To Tune Your Computer, and In The Tune You Can Disable Egr And It Wont Throw A Light.http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/...orsepower.html CHECK OUT THIS THREAD
