As I see it, the current L31 options are the marine intake or the ramjet350 intake "kit"...which is $1400.
The SuperRam is another option but it (like the TPI) would force you to ditch your AC...or go to the older R4 AC compressor & accessory drive setup. All of these would require redoing the air intake tubing from the air filter to the engine.

Another option, but I fear it would give up waaay too much low end torque...and would not be a total bolt on.

Total cost thru Summit $510.29 plus shipping. The intake elbow would give a bit more plenum volume but I'm not sure it would help much with low end torque...especially with those short 2.6" cross section runners. I mean, that intake is a super victor for the vortec heads. While it will bolt up just fine that intake is more intended for the 3500-8500 rpm range. With the elbow you would have more room to drill & tap for vacuum lines going to everything. You could put a port on there for the EGR valve. Certainly not a bolt on, but another difficult solution....cheaper than the marine intake but would require some fabrication.

That is a nice alternative for someone who has no plans of adding a "stock" blower or turbo setup. One of the only reasons people use the marine manifold it because it keeps the throttle body in the stock location.

wrong..its because you are no longer limited to the 19LBS injectors.

New member here, signed up just to say Id buy one if it was available. Ive been thinking about doing the Marine intake conversion, But would be willing to pay more for ease of installation.

keeping the TB in its stock place, being able to change injectors to whatever you want, removing all that crap obstructing the airflow in the plenum, getting rid of that plastic upper plenum, keeping a stock appearance to fool the man, lots of good reasons for the marine. I've also heard that the marine's quality of construction was superior than, and there were a little less modifications needed than, the other brands like edelbrock or holly's MPFI setups.

The marine manifold does look pretty good when you compare some of the alternatives. No matter what route you go by the time you are done the price difference is pretty negligible. Factor in the aforementioned reasons and it would seem that the most viable alternative is the marine intake. If someone isn't afraid of fabbing stuff or not looking like stock, then the window of viable alternatives increases.

It would be nice to have a decent aftermarket alternative that is more of a bolt-on than what is currently out there.

I suspect (as was said earlier) that if they thought they could make it and make money, they would likely have done it by now.

They said they would pass it on for review. If I had a giant performance company I would make parts for every version of the gen 1. There are bolt on intake manifolds for every gen 1 except vortecs. Maybe there isn't a huge market for it but a company could corner the small market that there is, with some creativity it could probably even be based on the tpi or lt1 lower manifolds.
