I layed down 181 RWHP/268 RWTQ on a Mustang Dyno with a stock head, stock cam 305 TBI.

That is not true, they also came in fullsize vans. 3/4 tons with factory tow packages. Many had the 6.2 diesel.

There were no 4L80 transmissions lacking the electronic shifting parts. Otherwise they would be documented by GM for replacement parts.

You maybe thinking of the AT545 which is an Allison 4 spd transmission that was used behind alot of medium duty trucks, including P-series GM chassis.

Re: 90 454SS vs 94 Lightning - TrucksTV

Here's the Lightning build via Youtube:

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VL_Pbq8n1AY
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEEBRIS01Og

Lots of cool stuff here. Conversion to MAF, turbo, etc. Running 5 psi will give roughly a 40-45% boost in power. The kit also comes with an electronic 5/7 psi boost valve, which will provide 60-65% more power with 7 psi. You do the math and that's 415 fwhp with 5 psi and 475 fwhp at 7 psi. A higher stall torque converter went in too.

On paper, Ford's got the Chevy beat in the power department at 7 psi boost. It's going to come down to which truck is going to hook up best.

Items I'd change on the Chevy at this point: higher stall converter and dual exhaust.

Re: 90 454SS vs 94 Lightning - TrucksTV

I wonder how that ford will stand up to boost. I'm fairly sure it will work, but one advantage the chevy has is that it has had many of its integral parts replaced, rather than being stuffed on horsepower life support. Basically, its not in as good of a condition comparativly, as the 454 is after being torn down and serviced.

the 454 is a stock shortblock. piston rings and bore have what 130,000 mi on them? NOT a good way to build a performance truck.

they dont give a damn, as long as it runs through the other few episodes they will be on...

If they blow it they will bring it on another episode and do a rebuild....

Darn it. I was hoping to hear of the outcome of the Trucks TV muscle trucks shootout this weekend. I thought that they were running head-to-head at the Sport Truck Shootout (http://www.454ss.com/EVENTS/2008/) in Kentucky on Saturday, but I guess they didn't drag the trucks. According to the 454SS.com forum, they didn't race due to legal/insurance issues.

Re: 90 454SS vs 94 Lightning - TrucksTV

iv been watching trucks and they haven't played a new episode of the muscle truck challenge yet! im sick of watching all the gay projects they have. the show has sucked since Stacy David left but i was hoping the muscle truck challenge would make the show worth watching again... guess not...
