Changing Trans Fluid
Im thinking i will hit 30K miles by next Jan or so (got about 24.5K now) and was wondering how to get all the fluid out of the transmission and torque converter?

im planning on putting Royal Purple in it and change the filter. im only doing this because i have owned it since new, everyone ive ever known has said to never change the fluid, but that has all be vehicles with over 100K on them and no previous (or no known previous) transmission fluid changes.

thanks for the help.

Re: Changing Trans Fluid
Go to Amsoil's website and they provide a good step by step piece on flushing your trans fluid at home. Not to beat up on Royal Purple but take a good look at Amsoil's products while there.

I used their method and it was realy easy and seemed to work very well.

Re: Changing Trans Fluid
A little tip on changing trans fluid that I did and it made it a breeze. Rather than trying to mess with a pan full of fluid and having to drip all over the place when you're trying to drop the pan, do this..

Be a B&M or similar drain plug kit (about $5) Have a look a the pan for a nice flat spot where you're going to insall it. The B&M kit calls for drilling a 1/2" size hole. Drill about a 1/4 in size hole in the pan and have your catch container ready. Drill just until it breaks through. Let the fluid all drain out of the pan. Once drained drop the pan. Now drill the hole out to size and install the drain kit. Clean the pan out really well and you're all set to re-install after you've done the rest of your service. You now have a drain plug for the next time and fluid changes will be a snap from then on.

Good luck,

Dave

Re: Changing Trans Fluid
what kind of shift kit to you guys recommend and how do they shift?
i mean i would like a decent firmness when normal driving and then a little more crisp when WOT but dont want it to snapped my neck back or anything.
