Re: duramax
my uncle's 2003 crew cab short bed 4x4 got 21 hwy and about 17-18city with no mods.
my friends cousin with a 2006 crew cab short bed 4x4 no mods, got 19 city and 23 hwy.

but the power is amazing in the duramaxes. the new ones though dont seem to get as good of mileage due to the low sulfar diesel fuel. that might also affect the older ones as well.

I'd be willing to put money that a dmax would get better mileage then your jacked up truck with massive tires. Diesel has 25% more energy then gas does.

It depends on driving style, I've heard of guys getting 20mpg in combined city/highway and I've heard of guys getting as low as 8-9 just because they are mashing the pedal everywhere they go.

Re: duramax
I've seen some 5.3's get as good if not slightly better mpg than some DMax's. Depends on gears/weight/etc, but a 5.3 CAN get close to 20-that's what diesel's tend to get.

well I am running 15-16 city now, over 20 on the highway, driving conservitively.

but when I first got my truck, I BARELY hit 13mpgs, it was at like 12.8 mainly... and like 17 hwy when I was lucky

when you're talking diesels', you no longer use the word "gas".

yes diesel's will get better fuel milage. How much? depends on model of truck and generation of engine among about 100 other things. Most drivers find between 15-22 mpg.

Not many picked up on my subtlety I guess. Original poster is luckly he posted that question here rather than on a diesel page.....

That was a good one haha. Honestly, wait for the new dmax that will be out in a couple years. Diesel prices are expensive and oil changes are expensive as hell. Not to mention the prices if you ever need new injectors or what not. Unless you absolutely need a dmax for work or towing, I would opt for a gas and wait for this new 4.5 coming out in 2010. Thats my 2 cents.

My 5.3L ECSB Z71 truck is getting 22 mpg right now on the hwy. Lots of tuning though to get that.

My brother has a 2006 D-max CCSB 4x4 and he gets 18 city/22 hwy(but I just started tuning it so there is more in it).

Re: duramax
My 00 chevy is gettin around 16 highway. I am a bit of a lead foot but 16 is actually on a good day. These swampers are pretty heavy though so thats my excuse.
