You could start by putting lighter wheels on it, taking rear seating out, and then adding power.

572 BBC, 8-71 blower, 4.10's.

Or, for a slightly cheaper approach, lighten it up as much as possible, some 4.10's, and a little more power.

Do you have a chip that got rid of torque management?

Re: Peelin Rubber In A School Bus ?

torque management might be one reason.

But, 4.10's will help alot, cause i know a few guys that can roast the tires at all, not even a chirp and they have 3.42's. I have 4.10s and with alittle brake i can sit still

run tubes from your windshield washer jets to the rear tires and wet them down.

Re: Peelin Rubber In A School Bus ?

You have 22's, 3.73's, and a TBI. It's going to need a lot of help. I'd start with gears and a higher stall.

That's a good way to roast the drivetrain.

Re: Peelin Rubber In A School Bus ?

What kind of cam grind are you running? I get the feeling that the problem is stall and maybe gears. If you're cam likes higher RPMs it may have lost a little low end, if that's the case then the converter won't let it jump up in the revs quick enough to break traction. That and perhaps you still have some torque management holding it back.

Re: Peelin Rubber In A School Bus ?

Boy, my 94 4x4 burb with 36 inch mud tires, stock 3.73 gears and g80 would roast the tires to no end. It has a bone stock 454 TBi in it.

My 97 4x4 Tahoe with 3.42's g80, bone stock would smoke the back tires so hard the truck would try to turn around on you.
