Vortec 8.1 496 BBC into 2004 Silverado SCSB
Well, As some of you may know. This truck has already had a BBC in it. For the last year. So now I figured time to change it up a bit.
Truck Started out as a 4.3 5 speed truck. And last year it got a mild aluminum headed L29 454. Previous post http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/...d.php?t=296155 But then I got laid off. So I sold some parts off of the truck. And now after some horse trading. I got this...
So after getting it a part. I realized I needed some parts to fix it. So I traded what was left of one of my trans am for another engine. Which also had seen better days. So now I got a complete bottom end. So I think with some true duals. It should be a fun little ride :)

Well took the heads to palm coast to get cnc ported. This 8.1 should run pretty good :)

Well got me a marine 8.1 intake. no emissions stuff. But did come with injectors wiring harness fuel rail etc. :)

So now awaiting the heads to get done. Going to order headers here soon. I am moving the mounts to where the old style mounts bolt to the block so I can use some normal headers. More pictures to follow. :)

Yeah I learned a valuable lesson about DBW and my year truck 
Anyhow updates ordered my accessories brackets for the 8.1 among other things from gm parts direct. Now that i realized it is cheaper to not try and tune the stock pcm. I will be going with a msd ls1 ignition setup and a megasquirt to control the EFI. Should be this week i hear something from the machine shop about my heads.

If I could of got the pilot bushing today for this thing we would be further along. That and I am waiting for my head gaskets from gmpartsdirect.

Well made the new motor mounts. I hate these new style motor mounts for these trucks. They sit so far back and make header selection a pain.

Yeah when i had the 454 in it, I had to fight the damn things. So i planned on fixing it the next time the motor came out.
