Re: Power Mods for the 99-02 4.3 V6

If your accessory alignment is the same, yes it will. If not I would bet on it that Al would look into what changes the bracket would need in order to locate it, then everything sle like programming is the same!

i would bet that it would bolt right up, and work just as intended. but remember, you get what you pay for. and i don't see this system being expandable. if all you want is a bit more power, fine. but power is addictive, expandability is a key feature.

It'll make a max boost of 15 PSI on the 4.3.
As far as any other kits offered for the 4.3, the problems remains the same for expandablity, fuel!!
You can mickey mouse a FMU into the ball game which will never get your fuel useage tuned right and thats anybodys risk in going beyond 6PSI, no matter what kit it maybe!
But again we are currently working with some else on a new intake to remedy that problem correctly instead of fudging the fuel addage mickey mouse style!

Re: Power Mods for the 99-02 4.3 V6

i upgraded my vortech kit to put out 14+ psi. and i DID NOT even change ANY pulley ratios, or the blower itself. other than to put a straight discharge on it. and that is though an intercooler !!!

fmu = mickey mouse ? well, kinda. but look at it this way. its a fuel pressure regulator. just like the ones already on there. are there better ways, sure. but they are also much more costly. so, as long as its within its limits, i would hardly say its mickey mouse.

With the "upgraded" ('01+) spider assembly it ends up being mickey mouse. 19lb injectors + fmu / 300hp = 100+ psi fuel pressure or

V8 would be better. Just alot harder to "bolt on".

I havent been back to the 1/4 only the 1/8. 8.7 in the 1/8 should be good for mid 13's. MPH is pretty weak due to torque management which I have finally rid of using the TunerCat software. Truck is making somewhere between 270-290rwhp.

Have you gotten any answer to this? I get the same thing with my 5 sp but between about 3000 to about 3600 rpm. I"ve changed ignition parts, upgraded to K&N air filter, changed the fuel filter and Seafoamed the intake. One response I had was to check the gap of the plugs and to try setting them to .046" - .048". I haven't had a chance to try this yet. I'll let you know if it helps.

Re: Power Mods for the 99-02 4.3 V6

summit racing carries a lot of parts for the 4.3l. its easy to find, search by model and you can narrow down the search to the engine size. they carries chip sets, cold air intakes, throttle body spacers, mass air flow senors, cams, headers, and a lot more.
also www.sportruckspecialties.com carries bored out throttle bodies and a pulley set for the truck.

Gibson also has a header for the NBS 4.3 2wd ready for production in under 6 weeks; ceramic is an option like usual. (this is straight from gibson sales rep mouth FYI)

Crane does too, the only thing that sucked was to use their rockers, you had to buy all new studs to get rid of the stock rocker system where you bolt them down till the bolts are tight, you have to buy traditional studs so you can adjust their rockers. All in all it cost me close to $400. It did buy me some higher rpm breathing and a little better top end.

I also have had good luck using the MSD coils on these motors to make up for the lack of coil over plug like the 2nd gen vortec motors.

Re: Power Mods for the 99-02 4.3 V6

I'm like the others, would it be wise to start with an AirRaid intake, then get the MAF sensor, or which products would you invest in first? I've been trying to sell my truck and a big downfall is the 4.3, so I figure I'll hop up the 6 and show them that it can be stout. Any suggestions on what to dig into first?

do not mess with the MAF sensor. there is very little to no gain from their. the cold air intake is a great idea. from there a tune and let your imagination run wild.
