Re: Power Mods for the 99-02 4.3 V6
Does a throttle body off of a 1998 chevy 5.7L fit onto a 2001 4.3L? It looks bigger so I thought i'd see if I could get some extra HP

Re: Power Mods for the 99-02 4.3 V6
Hey guys, quick s-10 question. My friend has a 2003 (last year, I think) and he is trying to get a Superchips Max tuner for it but we can only find ones compatible up to 2002(part #2575). We tried one of those thinking it would be the same and its saying "no communication from PCM" why wont this work? Did they really change it from 2002-2003?

Re: Power Mods for the 99-02 4.3 V6
I am not exactly sure but I believe the way the programmers work is based off the vin numbers. so with the change in year or overall package they difference could be enough for the computer to only work with specific controllers. Most programmers go for a a span of a coupl eof years but then you have the ones that are year specific and will not work on any other model. somebody else might be able to chime in on this for a better explaination.

Re: Power Mods for the 99-02 4.3 V6
Thanks! I tried my #2715(97-03 GM gas trucks)on it and it asked for an update code from Superchips. We are about to call them and inquire about the code.

Re: Power Mods for the 99-02 4.3 V6
does running the dual fans cause any ses lights to come up. want to hop my 01 x-cab up.
ive taken the silencers out of the air box, added a k&n, removed the bubble on the tb side of the air intake. tuned it up. the power is decent until you run the a/c. stupid throttle delay. want to add headers and a good exhaust but not duals and add underdrive pulleys.

Re: Power Mods for the 99-02 4.3 V6
i would not think that running dual fans would cause an ses light. i do not have any loss with the ac on. you will notice power on the highway with the pulleys. make sure you do not run to large of pipe with your exhaust. i have headers with true duals. good luck with al your power mods.

Re: Power Mods for the 99-02 4.3 V6
brandonclark, a throttle body off of a 1998 chevy 5.7 will bolt right up to a 00' 4.3 with no mods? & also did you have to reprogram the computer to take the new T.B.? thanks, im a n00b when it comes to these newer trucks.
thx,
Dave

i know i'm 2-1/2 years late but i must say this. i assume that your sig. pic and name means you have a supercharged GM full size with a caddy clip. and by your comment it means you have a 350,no? then why did you fell the need to supercharge it if it had enough power? just a question not an attack. cuz i too would supercharge if i had the money. but right now i'm all motor.

Re: Power Mods for the 99-02 4.3 V6
would some of these mods work for the 98 V6? if not then what is the big difference other than body styles that are changing these

FYI: The March Performance Under Drive Pullies will fit on the Vortec V-6's with very little modification.

2005 Silverado 4.3L
K&N Cold Air Intake, MSD Ignition, coil, cap, rotor, 8.5mm wires.
Magnaflow CAT-Back dual exhausts. Just purchased a CFM Technologies throttle body ported, bored, custom butterfly etc.
Anybody use or have info to share?
