Re: Power Mods for the 99-02 4.3 V6

well this is what I have learned from owning two trucks with the 4.3. outstanding motor. very reliable and with the right muffler it dont sound too bad. but unless you got it stuffed in a S-10 it just doesnt have the balls to move a FSC with out droping some big money and time into it. ive known some people that put cams in them and they haul ass but you have to rebuild the heads if you want the damn thing to run right. they do respond well to bolt ons and NOS but too much spray and they will blow the F up. (dont ask me how I know). dont get me wrong I love the motor. lots of low end torque and decent on the gas consumption. but the baby v8 is right there with it as far as gas consumption goes and you get a little more power and u get the V8 sound. but as far as the little 4.3 goes I hope they never quit using it becuase it has been unchanged pretty much since they created it and is still the badest truck v6 out there.

Re: Power Mods for the 99-02 4.3 V6

to be honest buying an electric fan kit is kinda a waste of money. any 1993-2002 f-body fan set will do the trick. mine r out of a 1994 Z28 and I couldnt ask them to work any better. all I had to do was wire up a couple of relays and a switch and thats it. the fan shroud is pretty damn close in size to the radiator so its almost a perfect fit. u can find them at a pick and pull or look on ebay. it should be cheaper than a kit from jegs.

Thanks for the list of mods Demon. I'll use some of them on my 96 Blazer...
