Re: TBI Mods.
Thanks,
I just ordered Doug Thorley longtube headers and Y-pipe for it the other day. I have a 3" high flow cat to go with it and with all that and the Corsa sport cat back it should sound pretty good. I am hoping anyway.. lol

Re: TBI Mods.
No rubbing yet anyway, but we will see next snow storm when the plow goes back on. If it does rub I will just put the 05 wheels back on until I put a body lift on it. The rims are off a Denali and the tires are Nitto Terra Grappler ATs they are 295/70/17 = 33". The motor is a 350 TBI with 98k miles on the truck.

Re: TBI Mods.
black95z71,
I have a Corsa Sport cat back on it and it still sounds stock or close to.
I just got the Doug Thorley Headers with the y-pipe(came in last night). I am going to be putting that on this weekend with a high flow cat and that should give her some bark. I hope anyway.. lol I live in Scarborough, Maine.

Question Re: TBI Mods.
Hey guys new to the sight, I really hate to duplicate anything but I read alot, of valuable information. What I was wondering: Here Goes:

I currently have a 1995 GMC K1500(4x4) it has a 5.7L 350 with the throttle body assembly.
The Suburban does have towing package, I think it is loosing it's power with 160000 miles on it. It is in excellent shape and hate to get rid of it. I have been trying to find information on rebuilding the engine and swapping out the Throttle Body Setup(TBI to TPI) Tune port Injection). Just incase you need to know this I currently have 33x12.5 tires on it, I installed the hyper-tech chip along time ago, and have the K/N filter as well. Everything else stock.

I would like to get as much horsepower out of it possible but not getting to radical, this is my everyday vehicle.

Can anybody suggest the best route to go and any information, that I can buy to help me guide my way through the process would be very much appreciated. I am gonna try to tackle this my self.

Thanks in advance, Lurnydoon

search for threads on the edelbrock efi setup. i did the swap, and if you're looking for power, go with a supercharger. i did the efi intake setup, heads, and cam, along with headers, k&n, flowmasters, msd, and so on, and i only dynoed at 214. it's very reliable and runs great, just not a lot of great gains as you might think.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. . . .Whoops.....hey, I just broke it!

... the suburban build thread!

Re: TBI Mods.
Has anyone tried out the Hypertech TBI Power Charger??? You replace the plastic ring on top of the TBI with this, according to Jegs it gives 10 rwhp!!! I think this is bull**** though...

I am still debating whether to get an open element or get the ram air tube and powercharger. I want a stock look, but at the same time want more air flow....

Re: TBI Mods.
I just added a 1" phenolic TBI spacer and 1/4 pod spacer for my 5.L 350 TBI.
I got the whole thing off ebay new for about $45 shipped, total.
So far.................. Best bang for the buck in my opinion.
HUGE throttle response difference and downshifting in passing gears is more reponsive aswell.
My 90 GMC Jimmy has 169k miles on it and this pepped her right up.
Good luck.

I did something very similar by just removing the plastic ring and soldering a 1/2" copper 90 into the bottom of the aircleaner for the crankcase vent. works like a champ for about $2, but you need a TBI spacer first for the aircleaner to fit over everything. This really opens up the area around the injectors, but I don't know if there is any real power gains, since I did the TBI spacer and pod spacer at the same time.
