I am doing a 350 to 454 swap and using the 700R4 in my 1988 Suburban. These guys have all kinds of cool stuff for doing this and other swaps that involve a TV cable. www.TVmadeEZ.com
Check em out.

if anyone has any picture of their engine with the home depot ait intake mod...please post it. im curious to see it. plus the $40 im hearing it takes to get the filter and some tuping is a lot cheaper than the $350 they are talkin about from K&N.

did it cost much to get it bored? did you have to bore out your intake manifold too? and how much did your mpg drop.

heh, I've actually managed to cut them to 2.1" (just under 54mm)... but when you do some castings literally get paper thin.

yah, my guy chickened out, but still the vacume ports have to be epoxied in and redrilled. 640 cfm's good enough for me. threw a stocker in for the hell of it, alot better response with the bored unit. with hand made throttle plates idle is a little tricky. fuel mileage didn't change, i run edelbrocks mpfi so the manifold required very little clearancing.
oh the cost was around 250cdn because i had bronze bushings and a renew kit installed, but what else is out there, the 454 units are hard to find and holley cost too much.

Yea, ports become a problem. I ended up getting some ½" aluminum rod and a ½" tap and die. Treaded the rod and the holes, covered the threads with some JB Weld, theaded it together and let it dry, then "machined" it in one piece (machined in quotes since I do it on a home made fixture with a home made boring bar on my drill press ;) )

I think South of the border gas is cheaper hence big blocks more plentiful, the favored engine here is the 350, 454's are around but are a lot harder to find.

As I said in another post (about 6 minutes ago) I was always under the impression that a Throttle Body spacer did about as much good as burning a $100 and sprinkling the ashes on the hood while reciting magical incantations... well apparently I was wrong.

Still not gonna buy one though.

The easiest and cheapest intake mod for 88-95's is to simply turn the air cleaner cover over. It seals just as good only the filter gets dirty faster. It adds some power and if you put your foot into it, it makes a nice sound too.
