I have a '97 5.7L TBI c1500. I am ofcourse on a budget but want more passing power while towing on the interstate without losing gas milage. Also what would be the cheapest way to get rid of the governer that cuts me out at 100mph.

Re: Performance for a 97 V8 C1500
And I'm in the same preicament except w/ a '95 5.7L... I'm not 100% positive they're the same engine, but I have a feeling they are? And if I purchase the Hypertech PTM, what year should I be looking at to fit my '95 Chevy Silverado K1500 Z71 5.7L

Re: Performance for a 97 V8 C1500
A custom tune can get rid of the governer while increasing your power as well, depending on what you have them do.

So is the Accel coil worth the money? Or is it just something i should do if my stock one goes bad. It seems that you are happy with it TexasSmoker.

In that case, a Chip, Programmer, or PCM tune would cut the governor out. I recommend a PCM tune...because you can get TONS of options out of it. EXCELLENT performance mod as well.

Re: Performance for a 97 V8 C1500
How many of these mods do you guys think it would take to get one of these ecsb trucks into the mid to high 14's? I searched for this, but didn't really find anything.

thanks

Re: Performance for a 97 V8 C1500
you will want edelbrock headers. They promise it will shave a full second off your 0-60 time if you get the Ypipe too. Go to summitracing and order them 480 bucks. I have a 97 suburban 2wd fit right on there no problem. It sounds great with a flowmaster40!

Re: Performance for a 97 V8 C1500
A full second off a stock truck with just the headers and y-pipe alone? That's pretty hard to believe...I wonder if they will refund your money if you don't drop a full second off your 0-60 lol? Because dropping 1 second from your 0-60 time will lower your 1/4 mile times by a lot more than 1 sec., correct?
