Re: Performance for a 97 V8 C1500
Check out the edelbrock website. I honestly think it is bull. I did a total rebuild on mine with performance parts anyways, but i guess they could be right. Ill post what they say on the website.

"Tubular Exhaust Systems...
Include Headers and Crossover for a Complete System and Maximum Seat-of-the-Pants Performance

Boost performance and driveability in your vehicle with high-quality Edelbrock Tubular Exhaust System headers. In some cases, you'll shave up to a full second off your acceleration time from 0 to 60 mph because the Edelbrock design improves your engine's ability to breathe. Mileage may also improve, as your engine becomes more fuel efficient. Best of all, our Tubular Exhaust System (TESŪ) headers give you all this performance within acceptable emissions levels and without voiding the new vehicle warranties. TESŪ headers accept all stock emissions equipment, leaving them fully operational and most systems are complete from the heads to the catalytic converter. The outstanding features built into every Edelbrock exhaust delivers the best in quality and performance.
Some Tubular Exhaust Systems are available in 409 stainless steel for extra protection against the high-heat conditions encountered in heavy-duty use such as towing and hauling heavy loads. These stainless steel headers have a five year warranty against rust, corrosion or burn-through.
Most Edelbrock Tubular Exhaust System headers have been granted an Executive Order Number from the California Air Resources Board making them street legal on pollution controlled motor vehicles. An Executive Order Number is pending on some applications, call our Factory Tech Line for more information on these numbers. Emissions exemption and a street legal status is granted through an extensive testing process that shows that a device does not reduce the effectiveness of a vehicle's pollution control equipment."

Interesting...I still don't believe it, but they obviously made the claim. That gain is probably on a fully built race engine, running stock exhaust manifolds and switching to their headers or something like that. I believe they may have made SOME vehicle lose 1 second on 0-60 time, but not a stock Silverado.

Re: Performance for a 97 V8 C1500
I could use some info on swapping out the intake with a marine one. What kind of computer mods or programming would be needed for the swap? Where can I find them at? Will they work with a larger trottle body? My truck is a 98 C1500 5.7 with a few minor bolts ons. Shorty headys from pacesetter, dual 2.5 from the front of the trans going to 1 magnaflow muffler with turndowns (tailpipes coming soon), I removed the mesh from in front of the stock MAF sensor, EGR block off plate, jet stage 2 piggyback chip (complete waste of money(, and a 180 thermostat. I'm hoping to take about a half second of my 1/4 mile. I have a accel coil that I havnt put on yet and I havent grinded the lip off the throttle body blade either yet. It probably wouldnt be hard to talk me into a small shot of nitrous too.

I think the test was on a stock motor, even though changing it from a bult motor and still getting a gain? Sounds worth it to me i'm looking at gettin some shortys in the near future.
