Strait Pipes with X-Pipe
Well i would like a loud, somewhat mellow sounding truck, and this is what ive came up with. I want something were my exhaust can cross or go into one muffler, so i can try to get some better MPG's/performance. But i don't want a flowmaster, being everyone has them. I dont want bullet's because exhaust doesnt cross, and i think will pop to much. So im going to cut my 10's off, and weld in this or something similar http://shop.ebay.com/items/__x-pipe_...d=p3286.c0.m14

What do ya think?

Do you have a sound clip or video of it? Does it have alot of popping/crackle to it??

Re: Strait Pipes with X-Pipe
So your gonna have stock cats, no mufflers, and an X pipe right? That will sound great if thats what your doing. Here's some vids of a '96 350 vortec with straights, no mufflers, and an X pipe to give you kind of an idea.

Re: Strait Pipes with X-Pipe
straight pipe is just plain ghetto, sounds 100 times better with a muffler especially on stock exhaust manifolds. It'd be different with headers and a cammed engine IMO

I think 2 1/4" or maybe 2 1/2" if the motor is completely stock but no larger.

Yeah 2.25 will be just fine. You could lose some with 2.5 but not a whole whole lot. If you go with 2.25 instead of 2.5, id have atleast 3.5" tips to give it a deeper sound as 2.25 can be high pitched.

Re: Strait Pipes with X-Pipe
I think it should be fine, I've got 2.5 with bullets and didn't lose a noticeable amount of torque, so either will probably be good.

Re: Strait Pipes with X-Pipe
Got it done today. True dual straits from the cat-back into a magnaflow X-pipe, then out to tips. I like it. I'll post a vid sometime.
