Re: dumped

Mine always has drone, not matter what RPM. It is loud inside and out. I don't really see why everyone hates "drone".

I think having turndowns past the cab might be louder than full length pipes. Maybe the less pipes, the more sound.

A lot of prefer a toned sound, not just loud volume. Any redneck can run straight pipes, so what? It's obnoxious, sounds like ass and you lack low end torque so guess what? I'm not impressed and neither is anyone else who's not a dolt. Give me a deep rumble that's just loud enough to get me noticed when I floor it, that's the perfect sound.

And less pipe does equal less sound. If you have a truck with full exhaust but only glasspacks, take the system off and put glasspacks right after the headers, you'll find out which is louder but i'd rather not.

Re: dumped

i am going to start takeing sound clip of all the exhausts we do. less pipe does not equal more volume, not by a long shot. i had full pipes out the back on my nbs and was ALOT louder than my buddy with an obs with nuthing but headers. was he louder in the cab? yes. was i louder everywhere else? yes.
and 88vick there is nothing wrong with being loud and still having a good tone all my vehicles have and will be loud as hell but i know how to make it sound good. you get looks when you floor it i get looks while i idle.

Re: dumped

Open headers have a nice sound, I think. Yes any one can ran straight pipes. Why does that matter? Anyone could run any exhaust setup. Even your "Magnaflow".

And as long as you have the proper size pipe, you do not loose power.

Re: dumped

wrong agin, dyno test prove you lose low end torque running open headers and stright pipes. you gain a little horsepower up top, but for the horrible sound, its not worth it. i ran stright pipes for about a day before it got old

Re: dumped

If I could get away with it, open headers on a V8. That is the best sound you can ever get.

Re: dumped

Open headers or straight pipes sound white trash, might as well set a toilet out on your front yard while you're at it. Anyone can buy a Magnaflow sure but it's not likely anyone else will run their setup exactly like mine, considering my pipes are custom bent. Loud is not impressive, I'll take deep and toned. I'd rather have the sound my truck makes now rather than what a Nascar sounds like.

Custom bent? I think almost everyones are. Mine are.

I don't know how anyone can say they don't appreciate a loud, gas, american V8 sound.

Exactly and yours are more than likely bent different than mine so therefore we don't run the same setup.

And I don't appreciate a loud gas V8 when there is nothing muffling the exhaust. It pops and snaps like no other, it has no tone to it. It's like scremo rock bands, sure they can sing loud but it sounds absolutely horrid. You can have loud, i'll take toned and deep. All the ladies like the way a truck with mufflers sounds, well, at least all the ladies with teeth like it.
