Re: bolt on exhaust for 4.3

I just had a muffler shop make my setup. Dual 2 1/4 pipes, dual thunderbolt cats, dual flomaster 40s, and dual 3 inch tips.

Consdidering it is a V6, it sounds great. At idle you can't tell it is a V6, and it almost sounds like a V8 up to about 2800 RPM. Even past that, it isn't bad.

Re: bolt on exhaust for 4.3

Gibson has a ton of bolt on cat back systems. I didn't have good luck with the galvanized kit, but stainless may be up your alley. All kinds of exits, single in dual out, single in single out. I thought the gain was noticeable.

I always liked their supertruck kit.

Re: bolt on exhaust for 4.3

Have a shop weld a muffler in pace of the stock one, it'll be much cheaper and you won't notice a power difference, you need to get rid of the restrictions up front, a.k.a the manifolds and y-pipe to really notice a difference so a differnet muffler alone is all you need for a better sound. The stock piping isn't too restrictive for a V6, it's only the muffler you need to get rid of, i'd have a shop cut off the 90 bend from the stock tailpipe after the last hanger and put on a turndown to hide it, single exhaust that sticks out is ugly IMO, like a part of the underside broke off and is about to fall off.
