May need new catalytic converters

Hey guys,

These questions are in regards to my 2000 OBS Tahoe with the 5.7 and dual cats (Pictured below.) The exhaust is a year old from the cats back.

I am loosing power in the high rpm range. I'm thinking clogged cats. Am I right?

I found a magnaflow catalytic converter setup for the Tahoe on ebay. It says its stainless steel. Is this a good option?

Also, when I take the old setup off, what would the old catalytic converters be worth? Where do I take them?

This will have to wait til my bonus check next month, but trying to get your opinions before I fork over $350 on a new setup. It would be nice if the old cats helped pay for the new ones.

I'm in NY, so ditching the cats is not an option. Thanks for any input!

Glenn

Re: May need new catalytic converters

I have the magnaflow cats on my 97 5.7L, and I did notice a little power increase. However I was getting code P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below ...
I called several places and could only get $20 for my old cats because they were literally half gone. Its defiantly a good upgrade if you have high mileage cats.

I'd say scrap the cats and throw some highflows on, you'll love the power and sound you get from them.
