Re: 2000 4.8 lt header question

you are in CA, they have all that stupid crap on their trucks out there.
those appear to be OBX headers. had mine for over a year, so far so good.

as to your question, i really can't answer it as i have never had to deal with the AIR system on any vehicle.

Re: 2000 4.8 lt header question

yea and i believe they only put the air injection on 99 and 00 models i was told i could put on a block off plate but would need to get a tune ..

i'm not worried about it passing smog cause it wont with these headers i just want it to run correctly without setting off my check engine light

Re: 2000 4.8 lt header question

you will need to have a tune for sure. have to have the rear O2 sensors tuned out for sure

They're dummy cats, they will pass the visual inspection, but not the sniffer test

Re: 2000 4.8 lt header question

after looking further into this i think since i need a tune anyways i may just remove the air injection rather than cut and weld the air injection flanges on a new set of headers

Re: 2000 4.8 lt header question

You can remove the EGR by buying the block off plate from the dealer or gmpartsdirect.com. The part number is 12558346. Just have a tune made to cancel the EGR, AIR injection, and the rear O2 sensors.
