Y-Pipe to True Dual

I'm currently running y-pipe duals with a SLP Loudmouth 1. Some of my buddies were saying I should run true duals over a y-pipe exhaust, my question is would it be worth converting sound wise? If I were to switch it would be to true dual straights or bullets.

Re: Y-Pipe to True Dual

Are you running the stock or an SLP y-pipe?

If you are running a SLP y-pipe or any other aftermarket y-pipe I would leave it as is.

It all depends on what YOU want your truck to sound like. Do you want it louder or quieter. different pitch?

You truck is fairly stock so going to true dual wont gain you much more powerwise, esp since you have the SLP Loudmouth system on it now.
Maybe look into a set of longtube headers for exhaust mods. A PCM tune would serve you well.

Sometimes duals make more power than Y pipes and vice versa. If you have a well thought out exhaust from the headers to the tailpipe, awesome power can be made with either exhaust configuration.

Re: Y-Pipe to True Dual

Its fairly loud now but I could deal with louder. The y-pipe was custom made by the exhaust shop.

I was thinking about a Blackbear tune but it is difficult for me to go without my truck I'm a college student and I'm 2 hours from home.
