500 rwhp 5.3l
I'm looking to make 500rwhp with a 5.3l. what i'm looking at doing is a twin turbo setup (10lbs of boost). What kind of cam and valvetrain should i get to reach this point?

Re: 500 rwhp 5.3l
A 5.3 can handle 500rwhp easy if the tune is there. I would get a turbo cam custom ground. What you do is tell the manufacturer your specs and what it's going to be used for and they will custom make you a cam, but remember to inform them that its going in a turbo'd application. I would run hardened pushrods and double springs.

Man you need to get on a truck site thats more performance based bud like Ls1truck.com or performancetrucks.net anyways pushing 500rwhp outta a stock 5.3 is very doable ill prove it in about 3 weeks, but just remember the 5.3 only has a 600hp crank shaft, which means you start pushing 600+ HP at the flexplate/flywheel youre gonna rip that bitch apart, im at 400HP at the flexplate 350 to the wheels all on a stock block and stock heads, and im about to squeeze a 200 shot to it, it'll be really close to the 600hp limit but it should be fine. Anyways your cam depends on what youre gonna do. Turbo, supercharged, NOS, N/A, it all depends on what kinda set up you are going to do, all different cams work better for your specific application, like my cam is a good all motor cam but also works well with the juice, anyways jump your ass over to ls1truck.com and ask this question there is an abundance of guys over there that will give you some good info. I mean i could sit here and tell you everything, to get it done, plan on spending at least around $5,000 thats if you do all the work yourself and just shoot the spray to it.

Parish got a little more than 600hp out of the stock engine... . Then he switched to a 6.0

wow... It sounds like you have some learning to do yourself.

Why do you want a twin setup? You could easily attain your goal with a single turbo, and it'll be much cheaper.

Twins.1 turbo would be good enough on that 5.3

Yeah he went to a 408 after the 6.0. With the stock 6.0 he laid down 1000+hp/tq. He never got the 408 running right to my knowledge.. and sold it.

What i mean was he couldn't get it to leave right at the line and never really cranked up the boost on the 408.

As long as you don't get an insanely big turbo on the stock engine! you can run a little larger turbo but just make sure you get the right a/r sizing and it'll spool quickly.

i just read that post again, he may have got 1000 hp outta a 6.0 but it damn sure wasnt stock, i know the video youre talking about, i garauntee he had after market crank, heads, and internals. On a stock crank and block the stock rods and pistons start letting go at around 600hp so maybe you didnt mean to put stock 6.0

I didnt even know Parish had a 6.0 in it, I thought he went right to the 408 first with a single turbo then the twins.

No it was stock, just a change to a different cam, I cant remember. I have talked to him on this issue. He is also running the current fastest stock ls shortblock right now in his fairmont. He is in the 9's with a stock 5.3 except a cam swap pure boost fed.
