Just crank up the line pressure and you're good to go... and now it seems that any post about removing TM results in people being scared away from removing it without doing a shift kit...

I spoke with Lyndon Westers about this exact thing a few days ago and he said (obviously this is his opinion, but judging by the following he has I trust him) that it is fine to take off 100% Torque Management on a stock truck as long as it is not the Allison. He said with the Allison tranny they will shift so hard without TM they can break parts. Again, this is just his opinion, but I'm trusting my brand new tranny to him!!!! Bye-Bye TM!!!!

that is not true. with timing more advanced, you will make more power with the same amount of gas, or you will make the same power with less gas. its like compression in that sense.

Re: Torque Management: Pics of how it works
OK. I have an 02 GMC Yukon XL and I am having Dynatech Longtube headers installed and have a Granatelli cold air system. After the headers get on, I plan to remove ALL the TM. Now, can anyone point me to the right part numbers that I need to get to beef up the tranny? I suppose shift kit and servos come to mine. I am looking to do it without ripping the tranny out and apart. However, once it works and breaks, I will have it removed then for a complete overhaul and rebuilt to take the stress. BTW, the tranny is a 4L60E, and the engine is a 5.3. If that makes any difference.

Any other suggestions? TIA

Re: Torque Management: Pics of how it works
for what it costs and the hassle/risk of rebuilding a trans, I would happily pay $2000 for a near bulletproof (for your use) 4L60E.

try FLP or Cmotorsports.com
cmotorsports has 1200+hp through one of those 4L60's for a few years now

IF I keep this truck long enough, I'll rebuild the tranny professionally. For now, I just want a few mods to keep it going along till that time when it is dead and then I will rip it out for a professional rebuild.

Is this treyZ28 from the Z28 board?

Just want to make it last a little longer then when it breaks, fix it. But it does need some tweaks to make it better.

Re: Torque Management: Pics of how it works
I think it was 1996 with the Introduction of OBD2 (On-Board Diagnostics 2). In 1999 it became more intrusive followed by 2003 where Torque Management began driving the truck for you.

Re: Torque Management: Pics of how it works
Could you get a PCMFORLESS or a westers tune and still use a programmer like the HPPIII or predator?

Green96:
That is the same as asking, "should I wrap it before I plant it". Sure it feels better and probably most of us do without a certain a level of protection anyway. It is up to you. You can blow your tranny even with TM. I say remove 100% Engine TM and you choose anywhere between 50% and 100% of Tranny TM. I would remove all of it, but that is me.

Atomic,
As long as you don't install the engine management program you could use the handheld programmer to adjust tire sizes and gear ratios. However the custom PCM may be locked by the coder and prevent any access.

Re: Torque Management: Pics of how it works
Anytime Storm.

I haven't done ANYTHING to my HD except screw around with the tune using HP Tuners. My Fiancee and I have been saving to buy her a Mustang GT, but instead she just purchased a Chevrolet 1500 Crew Cab 2WD w/5300 V-8. It is parked right next to mine and looks real kewl!!! Let the mods begin, for both of us!!! I will create a new thread with the pix of the new family member.
