Mike, what your builder told you is not good advice. Your PCM would have learned the new setup, although not very well, had you not significantly changed the displacement of the engine. It is this change in displacement that is causing the biggest problem. Whenever you do significant engine mods, especially internal mods, PCM tuning is a must to optimize the tune. The TunerCat/Jet software has the capability to calibrate your setup and doing it yourself is the best aproach IMHO. You can tune setups from mild to wild with the OBDII tuner. HTH

Hey thanks HAULNA$$!!! I guess that makes sense. So your basically sayin that if I had kept it a 350/355 but with the larger cam it would be a little better. Now I am novice with the whole computer engine tuning thing, and I have never done it before, is this something that I could do. I have a decent laptop. Again thanks I appreciate it!!

Correct,other than some LT1's from 9x to 95 that have an eeprom that is flashable.
Also EFIlive now has support for the 96-99 vortec engine's also,HPtuner's does not.HPtuner's does support the newer LS series engine's though,which start in 99 for the truck's and 2000 for the SUV's(cept for the tahoe limited,it's still OBS vortec)

I got a 99 Vortec 5.7. Stock is what 225 horse and 330 ft pounds of torque?
Im at a mile high here in colorado and get 17 mpg on the highway goin easy(No lift).
What kind of increase in Hp and Tq and gas mileage are we talkin about here? Sounds good, but i wanna make sure its worth it first.

Great question. I'm interested, but nervous because I don't know what parameters to use. I'm computer savvy, but wrench retarded. Had a Hypertech and was unsatisfied, got a wait4me and was somewhat satisfied, but after having engine problems put in better bearings and a roller cam. I'm also worried that the stealership deleted my wait4metune. I figure if I get this, I can do it myself.

I agree 96burbo, I too have been eyeing the spectrum tuner.

I have downloaded their demo. I am handy with a wrench, decent on a computer but there are some things that I dont understand or want to mess up before i have discussed with others or know exactly what it will do to my truck. I t would be noce also to have a place where tunes could be discussed or shared, find out what works and what dont.

Is anyone on here very experienced with the jet tuner?
