Talking 94 silverado power wanted
hi i am pretty new to fsc, ihave a 94 silverado with headmen longtube headers, true dauls, flowmaster super 44s, msd wires, ngk g power plugs, and i cleaned up the throttle body. i am looking for some more cheap horsepower like maybe lt1 or zz4 cam, cold air, msd coil,x pipe, and is there any sites that you can go to and download some bins that somebody has already made and tried because i have the stuff to burn the chip just dont know alot about it, i have been trying to research on it but it is pretty complex. all thoughts, help and input is greatly appreciated thank you very much! fsc rule!!

Re: 94 silverado power wanted
Wouldn't it be nice to have a ready-made stock of .bins pre-made closely matched to your combination? It doesn't work that way, unfortunately, and would probably put the OBDI tuning outfits out of business.

I agree. The learning curve is steep, but if others can do it, so can you. You've made a commitment at this point since you already have the chip-burning stuff. Hopefully, you also have a way to datalog your truck with an ALDL cable as well. That is where I would start rather than jumping head first changing things right away. Datalog your truck to see what areas need improving. A number of stock .bins are available from the Moates ftp website and are a good platform to start with. Match the mask code off the sticker of your PCM. Mine was BJLH from my 94 truck.

Welcome to the exciting world of DIY PROM tuning! Currently, there is no easy, one-stop-shop resource for tuning. Third Gen Forums are been the original go-to resource for their DIY PROM section. FSC has seen more DIY tuners of late and this "tuning" section of the performance forum was added recently.

There is an early attempt to summarize scattered info all in one thread, but it's a long way away from a how-to article: http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/...de-tuning.html. There are three other threads with good info here at FSC: http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/...bi-trucks.html, http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/...-software.html, and http://www.fullsizechevy.com/forums/...ing-guide.html.

Get reading and ask specific questions here on the forum. Others will be learning right along with you. Search threads started by "pfk" as an example. Heck, I'm a newbie tuner as well and still learning as I tackle tuning problems with my truck. Once I've gone through the process of tuning it, I'll share with everyone my tuning notes that I've kept and perhaps a how-to article to flatten the learning curve somewhat. These things take time and energy, and as you've quickly found out, it's pretty complicated. Lots of reverse engineering of the code hack to understand what the computer is attempting to achieve. The few people that have figured things out have literally spent hours and hours on it. Some of these people have gone on to start their own tuning companies. If you're good with computers, a quick learner of unfamilar software, and have a decent working knowledge of the fundamentals of how engines and transmissions work, then you will be able to achieve your tuning goals.
