curiosity getting the best of me
I've got a few questions. First off I have an '89 1500 that had 305 in it. I swapped the 305 out for a 350 30 over with a cam. Now I know I need different injectors and a tune. My questions are: Why does it start fine? Why does it seem to be running great but when it gets up to temp it stalls out? It will start fine after it stalls but then stalls again. Once again I know it needs to be tuned, I'm just curious. Thanks for the info guys.

correct me if i'm wrong here guys, but wouldnt a higher pressure fuel pump and an AFPR be a better solution than larger injectors?

that would be my guess...lot depends on the cam specs and tune...cam being reasonable would head for the wrecker and look for a similar truck with v8 cpu and try it but with added cam may not work due to paramiter diffrences...with changes to cam ect anything other than a custom tune is kinda mickey mouse

oh, no. tune for sure, just to make up for the lack of fuel, upgrade the pump and regulator before upping the injector size. i seem to recall that creating a finer mist, which is more efficient.

On start up its in open loop, it warms up then goes into closed loop. SOooo, every time you start it will be in open loop.

sounds like the cam is too agressive for the tune its got.

Re: curiosity getting the best of me
I don't remember then specs on the cam, but it is pretty aggressive. I have the spec card at home and will post it up when I get back home. I appreciate all the replies. It just wasn't making any sense to me. I do plan on getting the comp tuned. How much does it usually cost?
