Re: Tuning a Whipple with the EBL
o, hey, since iv been argued by about 5 people on the forum recently that i have a bypass valve on that blower and don't know it, can you clear this up and tell the people that the blower has no bypass valve on it.

Re: Tuning a Whipple with the EBL
91 chev, I also just got a used whipple for my truck and will be installing soon. Just call whipple they will send you the instructions along with a CARB sticker but they will also charge you 35$. they also have some parts still avalable they will send you a parts list on e-mail in you ask then. it helps when buying a used kit in case your missing somthing.

Re: Tuning a Whipple with the EBL
Well all I can say is I now have two whipples, One on my Jeep and one in a box for the 383 and non of them have a bypass valve. That is not saying that some of the kits for the newer truck dont have them. Just not for the 93-95 TBI kits from whipple.

yup, the new whiples definitely have them, but the one for the 93-95 tbi truck does not. i said that i didn't even have a bypass valve on my whipple and i got laughed at and told im just to stupid to notice it lol.

NO, THEY ARE WRONG. I have not seen a whipple TBI kit with a bypass valve.

yah, I called them yesterday.
thanks for the heads up!
chevy15005.7...
can you take a couple pics of the A/C bracket/compressor?
I'm looking at the parts list and it says 90-92 A/C compressor bracket. wtf?
also, a pic of the relocated ignition coil would be great!
I'm buying instructions, don't worry.
Thanks guys!!!

Re: Tuning a Whipple with the EBL
so the engine runs of off the normal regulator until boost is applied?
I would think boost would be made almost immediately after tip-in.
Let me think, here...
supply fuel line goes to the TB supply like normal, runs through the normal AFPR, then to the whipple unit for additional pressure when boost is present and finally back to the tank. is that right?
Nice to have 90pph inj's with the whipple.
Come to think of it, I thought I screwed up at the time of my head swap (using stock head gaskets) because of their thickness but it may prove to be helpful under boost.
thoughts

Re: Tuning a Whipple with the EBL
What's the deal with this A/C bracket issue?
I called whipple and they said I need to use THEIR A/C bracket or something like that because of clearance issues. What a pain in the azz.

Re: Tuning a Whipple with the EBL
haha, you sound like your having some trouble with the ac bracket! i cleared some space out. ill get a picture for ya in the morning. the ignition coil as far as i know is stock placement? when i bought a blaster coil on ebay i had thought the bracket it was in was different becasue it had come off of a v6, your saying that whipple supplies you with something difernet?
the fuel pressure regulator is simple, it goes on the return side of your tbi, it just stays open and lets the return fuel flow, so that your regulator in the tbi itself is functioning as if there is nothing out of ordinary. then the boost kicks in, and the regulator pinches the flow of the return line, forcing more fuel pressure regardless of what is happening in the regulator in the tbi. understand how it works? its pretty simple the way i think of it.

Re: Tuning a Whipple with the EBL
i think i knwo why whipple is concerned with clearence issues. remeber how i mentioned how you will need to loose that platic pulley with the lip on your tensioner becasue it will make it to wide. the reason it will be too wide is becasue there are soem seriousley tight clearence issues with how the belt tensioner sits on the ac bracket. right now my tensioner doesnt have alot of range of motion becasue of the clearance, its an issue for me because with 13 pounds of boost i put enough drag on the belt to stretch the crap out of it. my advice to you would be dont cheep out and get a good serpentine belt, goodyear gatorback is what im gonna be getting soon.
ill get some pictures or maybe a video for you and youl understand

Re: Tuning a Whipple with the EBL
so I don't need the whipple bracket, all I need to do is use the stock steel wheel instead of the plastic one, yes?
thanks for the help, dude

Re: Tuning a Whipple with the EBL
I think the transition from N/A to F/I will be pretty smooth with the EBL. we'll see.
Does anyone know a source for the 88-89 flexible fuel lines for L05 trucks? I've googled the part number trying to find a source but to no avail. Fast...know anybody that would have P/N 15567762?
whipple wants 150 bucks for their fuel lines...

o no, you need that tensioner and bracket and all. im just saying you need to use the steel pulley from your stock tensioner and put it on that corvet tensioner that came with your kit. itl all come together when you see a picture of it tomorrow lol, i know its hard to try and get an image of what its going to be like.
let me take a look and see if i have any pictures on hand, chances are ill have to go out and take some tomorrow.
EDIT: eh, i got nothin, i got one pic on my photobucket, its not really of any use, but what the hell, take a gander at how it should all look
